Good Morning!
Here is the final total if this week's staggered hatch. Don't ask me how many, I lost count...lol It started off with a bresse mix on Mon & ended with a Tolbunt on Thurs & a palm poult on Fri with a bunch of rainbow babies in between.

The list to start off next week: bbs marans, blrw & a wellie due Sun, ancona ducks & turkeys due Wed.

After that: rainbow layers the 30th, a lone scovy & rhodebars the 31st, calls the 1st, rainbow layers, calls, & polish/cl the 7th, calls the 12th, turkeys the 14th & turkeys the 17th.
And I have to set a few ducks & turkeys today for the HAL...LOL

Unfortunately I have to agree. Rough day, started off with my LGD getting skunked. I was not too successful at washing her. She doesn't smell much better, and I snow smell like skunk! I did use the peroxide dish soap baking soda method.

Something mid day got our gorgeous black Orp pullet (fat Betty). I'm absolutely sick about it. Ripped her head and neck off, left her body. Our first thought is raccoon...but mid day? DH set the have a heart trap. Also took a shot at a fox out in the back field. Such a bummer. But....tomorrow is another day.

So sorry about your rough day.

Loosing a chicken to the unknown is frustrating to say the least. In regards to the skunking....I have never experienced it but my mom said her dad and brother had it happen back in the day and they bathed in tomato juice. Not sure if it was an old wives tell that it worked or not.

You could try this Blarneyeggs to deskunk your dog. Takes most of the smell out not all, but most.

When I got home my mutt Norma growled at me and ran away saying "buc buc buc buc buc buc" all staccato like and puffed up. When I put them all in tonight she was already in... a NEST BOX....when I went back out to shut them all in the coop... She was still there in the NEST BOX. She has never been a nest box sleeper I am not using the "B" word yet but you all feel free to label this behavior as you see fit. I may be able to play with you all after all!

I really don't think you should be calling your hen the "B" word. That's just rude. Granted, she growled at you and likely cursed you in chickenese and is being very anti-social, but still.....
