Very excited to be doing this! It will be our first try with the incubator. For sure we will have a dozen Welsummer eggs. Still don't know what else will go in the incubator, but hoping to finalize plans in the next few days.

Well worth the money, but I do it just to support a site that has been invaluable to me!I believe it's $20.00 for a year. I'm hoping to win one during this hatch-a-long, lol! If not I'll be paying to renew mine. I only dealt with the ads for a month or so before I got mine, but they drove me batty for that month. No one get me wrong.... I completely understand that those ads pay for the site. That's why I don't mind paying for the GFM to turn them off, lol! They have to make the money somehow, and BYC is worth every penny to me.![]()
Scary differenceWTHeck is going on?? Today I got my Brinsea SpotCheck, Thank God!! I wanted to post this for all of you using Acurites (which is what I've always used). I knew the Acurites were off but I was really shocked by this. Notice neither Acurite ever registered anything over 100* and they have been in there since yesterday. This is so drastic I'm wondering if the SpotCheck is off, lol! Obviously I have big adjustments to make. Any opinions Ron?

And first post! Welcome to BYCHi please add me to the hatch-a-long. It will be my first time incubating...... fingers crossed we get at least a few.
OMG! I love African Greys! Had a friend that had one and it was awesome, called the dogs to go outside at 6 am every morning so mom would have to come take off the sheet. Mimmicked her laugh perfectly, sang itsy bitsy spider, said it was time for bed and "lights out". I would love to have one, but like emu's this is another one my hubby has been pretty adamant with "No". (Due to lifespan)I am planning on incubating a few of our chicken eggs, as few as I can.... a couple silver pheasant eggs and also a few call duck eggs for the hatch-along.
But guess what...? My Goffins cockatoos AND my African Grey parrots decided to join inThey layed eggs with perfect timing to hatch the day before Easter!
So..these moms will be doing their own incubating...Are these eggs allowed to be counted once we are counting?
Love the nest boxes! I need to get hubby to build some like that.So I AM in trouble now, these hens take jinxing VERY seriously. 3 of the 4 went right back on the nest after I kicked them off - Broodhilda almost took my fingers off every time I put an egg in. I learned my lesson, no more jokes! LOL!
Now to hope that they stay dedicated. The other ladies will have to pick up the slack on laying, right?![]()
I would also like to hatch some quail, but surprisingly hubby doesn't want these either. Says he doesn't have time to do another coop. I am beginning to wonder if maybe me hatching the 50 plus eggs a week could be causing him to start to say no....Speaking of photos:
what was hatched this morning- 18 coturnix quail. I can see 8 different colors. there are 17 eggs left in the incubator. Also I now have 4 silver lakevelder chicks, but 3 of them have a large pea sized amount of unabsorbed yolk, so I didn't take any photos until that heals up.

My son says Oomoo looks like a baby velociraptor in this pic (that's supposed to be a complement, I think).
