What a gorgeous boy! An amazing job. I tried to convince DH that we can have an emu of two on all of the acreage we had.....he gave me the stink eye.

Thanks. But you should get some emus! They are super friendly, funny, protective of the other animals, and a pair amazinly only eat 3lb of food a day I was told! LOLOL

We stopped at TSC on the way to the grocery store. Yes, this was a planned purchase.
Dewey and I have been talking about getting some Khakis for the eggs. I really miss the eggs...
He said we could get a couple for that reason only. I knew he missed his ducks anyways.

Here's the new additions and the only live purchase I will be making from TSC this year. I have done really well all season, so far, but those ducklings I couldn't resist. I have a 10-12 x 20' concrete dog kennel attached to my garage I will turn back into the duck pen. I had my 4 Khakis from last year in there before I decided no more ducks.





I am pretty darn sure I have 5 girls and 1 boy. Last year I picked all light ones and all were females. I hope I have 100% accuracy again this year!



Oh! It's my ducklings holding the new ducklings! Poor Devon was having issues with his. It kept trying to run up over his back.

I might actually have a broody now that I am collecting eggs for another person's hatch. Three girls sitting on eggs, but only one doing it from two days before - and she grabbed some food/water and went right back on. I have some older eggs (up to 11 days) I am going to toss under her so the fresh ones can go out. Time to risk life and limb touching her nest - if I type funny after this you know why!

I know how rough those broodies can be. This is what happens when you mess with my Heritage Barred Rock when she's broody. She takes out CHUNKS! Someone PLEASE buy that gal a pair of gloves. or maybe even gauntlets.

I had a call yesterday from a friend who got some khaki eggs free with her chicken eggs. She didn't want ducks and knew my kids had been begging for some since we have a small pond. I said no. Your duckling pictures melted me so I called back. Heading out to pick them up now so I guess I'm in for ducks now too!
