Yes I have heard of Bobcats and coyote being in the area. My friend also says they have cougar and there is a rumor of a panther... Their last name is DeLong, who knows maybe you have heard of the name. Lol.

Never heard of anyone having problems with having chickens and peafowl together. Course I don't have any peafowl yet so I can't say much...

No offense, but cougars and panthers are the same species. They are also called pumas, catamounts, mountain lion, painter, mountain cat  - all the same animal.

Ok, let me clarify what my friend told me then. She told me of huge black cats (Panthers) roaming around where she lives. They had some big cat take their German Sheppard a few years back. That is what she told me anyhow.

Hi All,

Congrats on finding some eggs! Sounds like you will have an awesome mix of chicks come Easter.

Didn't think I'd be joining this, but I picked up 16 BLRW eggs yesterday so I'll collect my EE to add to the incubator to fill it up. I have them in the turner to keep them rotated until the weekend.

Don't think I'm going to try to catch up on all 5100 emails. Not even sure I can catch up on the digest thread but I'll try.

Welcome! I'd recommend reading the first post periodically, any hatch a long news would be found there.

I think you mean NPIP.

And a little additional information,NPIP isn't extra certification people get because they want too. It's actually federal law to transfer poultry/ hatching eggs from one state to another (yes many of us don't follow it, it's a law from the 30's passed by the Federal Govt with enforcement to be done at the state level, so most states don't put a lot of money into it's enforcement) . If you really want sponsorship and news coverage everyone better be NPIP certified.

That makes perfect sense. Given that at best it might take a year to put it together (if enough people are interested in participating), it would provide a major incentive and allow many time to get their farms certified.

count me in. I think this is going to post right. This will be my first hatch. Im using a little giant incubator that was purchased as a still air but after reading several threads on here I decided to add both a turner and fan kit. Hoping it goes well. Seemed like this would be a good time with all the information flowing. Lets see how it goes.

Mine are only coming from the next state over, so I shouldn't have any issues with getting here on time. Do yours have far to travel?

I have a Brahma that just went broody for the first time. She is really deep under a coop and hard to reach her. She gets really mean if I try to touch her, so she will be staying there. So I had to put extra waterer and feeder under there also.

Hopefully she will be better at it than my Cochin. She made a consent mess of her nest, even with helping her keep it clean. She was a little over a year before she went broody. So, hopefully yours will start soon.

Need to get with U-Haul, they could sponsor the trailer.

Eggcellent Idea! Ha! Eureaka!

This would be The Eggcellent Adventure! And everybody will be "Eggcellent to Each Other!" (George Carlin in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventures!)

I know that most probably think that movie was just some fun fluff, but I was struck by the simple profoundness of the goodby wish for people to "Be Excellent To Each Other". Not good, EXCELLENT!
