I added some water thru a vent hole into a dish with a papertowel to bump it back up. Think any harm was done? I'll have to watch for this during my Easter Hatch. ~~~~~~~~~~

My guess is, it was creeping down and you didn't know it, because your hydrometer didn't change right away. Not sure what you are using for one, but I have some cheepies, and I caught on to their tricks! I just keep the water levels, or wet the sponges every day, or night. Just a thought.

I bought some OEGBs from a breeder. He has them separated with lots of room and they are healthy and seem content but they do not have access to outdoors. After I brought home the ones I had bought and had them quarenteed, I put them in with my flock with access to the outside run. They were very cautious at first but soon were enjoying it. Then, once they were used to the coop, I let them free range. Talk about funny! You should have seen them high-stepping in the grass, trying to figure out was it was and then finding it edible-what a treat!!! I thought one little hen was going to bust her crop, she just keep eating the grass.

Well, can't say you didn't warn me! I have a red sexlink on my back porch right now. I don't think she's gonna make it thru the night. At least she's had a good life!! Where's my Kleenex? You get so attached!

I know, the attached part, it's so hard when you've had a hen for so long, and then, it's time. I'm sorry you are going through this right now. She's been one lucky/blessed girl to have had you take care of her.

I just watched the video and is was heartbreaking and heartwarming. Why, why, why????.....do people think that is acceptable practice. It was so lovely to watch those girls doing what they do naturally.

I loved the part at the end, not only did they know how to take a dust bath, eat the grass, but did you see them follow the "treat" man?

400

Here are 5 of the 7 poults hatched today. 2 more are still in the bator trying to get their feet under them before heading to the brooder & 3 of the ones in this pic were sold less than 30 minutes later. An 8th poult pipped internally but never made it out. I have 5/6 from each of 2 more batches developing. 1 batch is my eggs & the other is shipped.
