I've been warning people for a while about Brinseas.. had a bunch of them and every one had issues
Sorry you lost all those eggs.. but I can feel your pain.. I had one that kept rising in temp well over 120 and still rising.. they reside at the dump now
People tend to forget that Brinsea is in the market to sell incubators.. they are not a hatchery.. so they really don't care about your hatch rates or if their products have problems or design flaws.. so long as they make a profit they're happy.....

I love my coolerbators!
X200000000000000000000000000000 @yinepu did you see the Cabinet Coolerbator we made? Its awesome and cheap! love it so much I just ordered two more coolers, another bator and one hatcher!!

Also was going to message you about tips for hatching call duck eggs! did you make an article for that size duck?

yup.. I did.. lol.. might have to make another one to match it (we have 6 coolerbators now.. so what's one more)!

I ordered some call duck eggs just for that reason.. figured I needed something to take pics of so I could start an article on hatching out the little guys (and my mandarin eggs will be a few more weeks before they arrive).. now to wait for the calls to get here... tracking said they would be here last week .. but the USPS sent them back to the breeder for some unknown reason.. so he's sending me out a fresh batch!

My set number went down to 5.

I opened the door to the coop this morning at 6 to let everyone out and then I went back to check on my broody hen at about 9:30 to see if she had left the nest to eat anything. When I got outside I saw feathers everywhere but not blood. I couldn't figure out what happened because everyone was out there that should have been. I went to the coop after the outside head count to check on my hen and something had gotten her and in the process crushed 5 eggs. I grabbed the other five and they were cold. I decided to bring them inside and put them in the incubator even though I don't have much hope that they'll make it. After bringing the eggs inside, I went back outside to clean up the mess in the coop and put all the chickens back in the coop, but when I got there I saw more feathers. I looked around to see who it was this time and in the back of the field behind my house I saw a fox reach the wood line with my favorite rooster in his mouth.

I might have to smack my little broody hen if she didn't get her fluffy butt back on those eggs today! I know it was gorgeous but I hope that doesn't mean it broke her of being broody already xD Grrrrr. She was out in the run just scratching to her little hearts content. The eggs were still warm when I touched them though so I hope it was just a brief lapse. *siiiiigh*
Everyone enjoying your monday?

Just collected my eggs. I'm pretty sure Marshie is broody AGAIN.

WHY DOES THIS HAVE TO BE ONE DAY AFTER SET FAY FOR THE EASTER HATCH?!?!?!?
LOL

It's so depressing. I came to the coop, her sitting on that little nest of hers, on two warm eggs. One day late. Stinks.

well, I did it. I filled the empty spots in my turner + 2 more eggs...so my new total is 44 eggs for the HAL. I am going to see what hatches out of 5 of my brown (regular light brown) BYM hens' eggs + 2 of the bluer eggs laid by my 2 Ameraucana hens...

So I hope the ones in charge of this HAL see this... 44 eggs for chickenlisa...what am I going to do with that many new chicks if they do all hatch??? Yikes!

today is still within the +/- 2 days of set day...most of mine went in 1 day before and now 7 more 2 days after...I think that's ok. You should be fine today too...

Umm, I don't think it IS too late! Isn't there a two day window either side of the Set Date? I think you JUST made it!

LOL same thing I asked on the NYD HAL. I had 32 eggs. 1 1/2 dozen never hatched....they were refrigerated. mistake, but helped me out ALOT. only 12 hatched, 4 turning out to be roos which was also another bonus. the other few eggs I threw out and such...I think they were refrigerated too. fertility had always been 90% and better.

I wish you luck on this hatch.....but with 44 eggs hopefully not too many roos come your way ;)

Hi Sally! This is upsetting. Of course, we will provide a refund. This being said, we do get them on a weekly basis DIRECTLY from Brinsea as their facilities are only a couple of miles from us. So we don't stock them longer one week. My guess is that they were stored in a humid area at the Brinsea warehouse. So if you do orders those again - from wherever you purchase them from, I would recommend having the batteries checked. This is today the second complaint about the Spotcheck. So obviously, we got a bad batch from Brinsea. I do apologize for this, and we will provide a refund straight away ... Again, we are sorry about all the inconvenience this caused .

At least I get my money back..... so that said..... what will I try out now! LOL

it isn't registering a temperature, not in the incubator, not on my, nothing. even replaced the batteries but it didn't fix it. so far I have had the best luck with just getting several cheapo thermometers and using two at once. i assumed i would get better results if i spent a bit more but I guess not :p

You two should look at the thermo works thermometers.
