Windancer, I love silkies too. Here is one that I hactched last fall, a buff. Her name is Dxie. The gal I got the eggs from is going to send me more eggs. I keep getting those nice bearded ones. My first one I kept from her was a white. I want another white. I have one that I just hatched a few weeks ago, but not sure it's going to be as full in the beard. We'll see, it came from a different breeder. But these two came from someone that used to come on here regularly, not so much anymore. Just see her on fb.

Those silkies are gorgeous. I want some for our brooder house. DH thinks they are silly but I told him it would save on the electric bill because they are good sitter. I really want you buff silkie

I LOVE my silkies!!!!

I love my silkies ALOT. their temperament is great and are fine with being picked up by my family. my mom just wants them gone because they seem worthless to her considering they are broody so often.

From someone not even a BYC member! I know! (I did give 'em a BYC "business card" to try to get them involved...)

They sell local honey and fresh eggs (and hatching eggs) from their property on Pleasant Valley Road between Hanks Exchange and the big green water tanks. I stopped there last year and discovered they have the same problem with roosters as do I: can't kill 'em, nobody wants 'em for anything but processing, and they just can't do that to roosters they raised. So there are some absolutely GORGEOUS roosters in separate bachelor quarters.

They keep a laying flock for "rainbow" eating eggs and some fabulous BCMs for hatching eggs.

I hatched a white silkie rooster, splash silkie, porcelain silkie, and partridge with a bit of sizzle. they are relly great birds. my splash is 11 months and has gone broody twice in the last 3ish months.
(these gals were hatched on new years)
I gave this fella away once he decided to fight my Japanese roo.

^Ridiculous. LOL I wish I had room for that much! I've got 31 in the hovabator (first year trying it) and I candled today - confirmed starts in 28 of them. I have no idea where Im gonna put them all. Our electric bill is already through the roof with one trilevel brooder full of cockerels, one brooder of ducks and one double-light brooder of asst chicks. Annnnnnd when the HAL batch comes? I just don't know. LOL

While you're doing look-alikes..the tan one really reminds me of Chewbacca from star wars... in the *best* possible way. Adorable.
