@JennaLynn122 - @others - The most helpful thing I ever did to learn about candling and hatching was to keep a log on my eggs. You can number the eggs and keep notes according to number, or, sometimes, I make notes on the eggs themselves. When you candle and see something strange (to you) then make note of what it is and leave it in the bator. I don't pull eggs showing something unusual until lockdown and sometimes not then. It has taught me not to be so quick to toss them, sometimes they hatch!

There are exceptions. If it won't pass the sniff test (it smells "off") it is tossed. If it has a blood ring or is clear at 12 days, it is tossed.

All others get 21 days to make it.

Me too..bantams. I got two last week, one died. Little bantam NN. The other bantam NN did fine. They have said they guarantee..so I took the little body with me. :/ No one wanted to look, but I got another baby, it looks to be a cochin. Now, if these can just be girls.
i HATCH SOME nn/cochin bantams theyare so cute. Mama is a standard cochin daddy is a bantam. LOL he had high hopes. Think I have 7 in there . will take pictures later today. Off to grooming my dogs.

Dang. Read all the posts from last night and this morning!! Holy cow.

Watched that hatchery video, that is crazy how they do that. Wonder how many they lose from the process??

Dawww, if only I could find button quail around here.

I got my eggs from 3-bay..got quite a few, so had a few hatch. Not too bad. Here they are a little older.

And then a little older...

Button Quail..they are so cute...who is hatching Button Quail??

Mine from a few years ago. They are soo cute..they pop around like popcorn popping when you try to catch them.

Oh my gosh, I think I would try to hold them all the time. Good thing I'm not hatching these. I don't know if I would be able to leave them in the brooder. Until I saw the marbles for size comparison I was just about keeping it together..

They will be fine but it is ok to open the incubator when necessary during hatch.

The humidity needs to say up, so I use a spray bottle with fresh hot water in it and scoop out the fluffiest chicks during hatch while misting a couple of times. I did that last night and humidity went down to 59% and was back up to 65% very quickly. No chicks were shrink wrapped by it.

You do not want to leave them in longer than 24 hours after they hatch. Incubators are a bit hot for them since 95 degrees is the temperature for week old chicks.

Thanks! Will do...esp if over 20 do hatch!
