Aww, she had them. And a dilute little orange, how cute. She
will probably do just fine, especially if she isn't bothered too
much. Cats are notorious for trying to hide their babies if they
get bothered too much by people wanting to handle those cute
little babies.

Thanks! and 2 of those little dilute orange babies...I'm steering clear for the most part- just peeking in thru the door or the window (when I was in there last, I pulled the mini blinds up halfway. It is our downstairs half bath, so it doesn't get much traffic or use.) She jsut seemed starved for attention in the last few days, so hopefully it is the hormones and that'll wear off and her maternal ones will kick in more and more.

@Sally Sunshine I am just about certain the thermometers are right. I have three. Two of which are spot checks and both have same reading when doing an oral temp on myself and in wigglers in my mini and cooler. I was freaking out last night so I just moved all the eggs to the coolerbator.

And here in about an hour I am calling brinsea to send this 20 in for service since it's still under warranty.
This literally had me laughing out loud! Omgoodness!!!

Me too..my DH has heard me laugh out loud a few times during this hatch a long. That's just too funny.

ok, here is a logistical question...I have 44 eggs in my Styro Genesis incubator...37 will move to an older model of the same kind on day 18...37 eggs fit fine in an incubator like that, but would 37 chicks fit, if by chance I had them all hatch? (I know they won't, but what if 20 or more do?) I won't want to open it and risk the unhatched ones getting shrink wrapped...how many can fit in that kind of incubator and still be ok?

They will be fine but it is ok to open the incubator when necessary during hatch.

The humidity needs to say up, so I use a spray bottle with fresh hot water in it and scoop out the fluffiest chicks during hatch while misting a couple of times. I did that last night and humidity went down to 59% and was back up to 65% very quickly. No chicks were shrink wrapped by it.

You do not want to leave them in longer than 24 hours after they hatch. Incubators are a bit hot for them since 95 degrees is the temperature for week old chicks.
