The 5th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

These hatched the past 2 days. These are the first 24. 26 hatched out of 32 in lockdown & 39 total set. Lost 1 during hatch. 5 eggs still in the bator doing nothing but will give them an extra day just in case. I had 6 sold & out the door before the last 2 chicks were even dry...lol

Today is indeed a great morning! Lancaster Fancy Fowl has told me they will sell me a dozen SS hatching eggs! I am beyond happy right now!
My next quest is to find some Creme Legbar hatching eggs. If I can find them then, I will be set for the hatch-along.

I'm working on my hatch in-between the Easter hatch. Ten days left, and only three of the seven appear to have been fertile. The brown leghorn rooster I am using is, I think, around six years old. I will keep checking for fertility in the eggs. At least those three are developing, anyhow. Last time it was only one.
Hatch day will be right around St Patricks Day.

I just had a hawk take one of my guineas right in front of me maybe a month ago. and this is not the first of my birds it's killed - but at the same time i can't bear to keep my chickens cooped up all the time so we continue to risk it i guess.

I'm so sorry...that would be much worse than just finding one already dead. Last year one almost got my roo right in front of me....I hate those d@#n things!!
