Good Saturday Morning All !

It going to be a beautiful day today a high of 45. Id live to spend my day outside cleaning and dusting coops. I really want to get out there and hanging the new oyster sell and grit feeders I bought for all the coops. I may get some of it done but we have a nephews bday party today at Burger King, right in the middle of the day so Im not sure what I will get done. I also really need to work on finishing building extra brooders in my garage. So much to do.

On the plus side it is warm out today so DH is collecting all the Maple sap from all the buckets today

I feel you, I am torn today, too. My middle son is turning 15 today. He said that he didn't want much for his birthday, but he did want us to have a "date" like we did when they (3 boys) were little. I started the tradition when they were three or four. I would take them out, one at a time, usually on their birthday, and teach then how to behave on a date. We would go out to eat, shopping for a present, and to a movie. I would have them open the doors for me, pull out my chair, and order food for me. That was always an option for a birthday but once overnight friends, and hunting trips with dad became other options, dates fell out of favor. Until last week.

Today will be sunny and the high will be near 70. I have two beds ready to plant and a gift card to Lowe's. I am behind in my spring cleaning of coops and planting beds, but I have nothing to do that is more important than that date.

Those dates sound wonderful! That is not only a great way to bond with each child and share individual quality time together but you at the same time are teaching them to be wonderful boys. I have 3 daughters so I don't get date days with them, DH takes them on individual special days and the girls get to choose what they want to do for the day. I doubt life lessons are being taught lol but they have fun together. Im the one that teaches the girls all there life lessons, how to behave and how to treat others respectfully etc.

Enjoy your date night tonight.

Oh yummy, fresh syrup! How long does it take to boil down? I'm hoping to get honey this year from my bees.

Great, the clock in my car will be correct again! I told my wife I'd correct it if she was just a little patient.

Great news!

Dick Horstman has SLW Hatching Eggs.....Google Horstman's Poultry. He's very reasonable & from what they say very reputable.

This is so true that Dick is very reasonable and reputable. I had bought some eggs from him a couple of years back. They came, and they were a mess, I mean a mess! More than half were either broken or cracked. I took photos of them for Dick to see. Right away, more eggs were off to me..I waited, and waited and waited. Too far out, he says..I'm sending you some chicks. I got a box full of chicks, all were healthy..little Silver Pencil Rocks...
I have a photo somewhere of one that is older. Very pretty. Those dates are wrong..that old camera..
Anyway, Dick didn't have to do this for me, but he made sure I was a satisfied customer. He has beautiful birds. :)
I wonder if he has changed his egg shipping habits. I can email him pictures of how to pack. properly packed you rarely get brokens no matter how bad USPS is

here is a small hatchery in Norway

Capacity
  • Setting machines: 436 800 eggs divided on 13 machines
  • Hatching machines: 153 600 eggs divided on 4 machines
  • Maximum annual production: 6,8 million chickens

I did not take the time to research the broiler places lol

Maybe we can compete with one of them.

Ron's next set up
Good morning!
I could use this sign at work.
