I am very tempted to spend my day "window Shopping" TCS and the other local feed stores, just to look at the cute chickies.

Anyone else think that might be a bad idea.

Not at all! ... Unless you have a willpower similiar to mine when it comes to cute little fuzzy butts.

Last time I went into TSC alone I came out with 2 ducklings.

I love my hubby but sometimes I just want to knock his head against the coop.

I am fortunate, DH and I are in this together. He allows me to pick the breeds and get the eggs and he hatches. I am definitely purchasing another incubator this week so we can have stagger hatch, especially since I just ordered eggs which will not be finished until after the 29th. I have ordered other eggs for this hatch-a-long. Did I mentioned that I am thinking about the Cinco de Mayo Turkey hatch. Did I say that out loud? I am stilling thinking about it....have not made up my mind.

This cheese was a raw cow's milk cheddar (aged 2 months) I made at a workshop my goat club hosted. Can't wait til my does kid in a few weeks so I can try it again with our own fresh goats milk! Hope I remember the steps. Lol

I need to learn to make cheese. I am planning to breed my 2 does for the first time this fall so come next spring we will have cute kids running around and some yummy milk. I would like to learn how to make some stuff with the milk before the milk actual comes.

Bees are also on my to do list. There is a woman not far from me that does bees and she will "rent" a space on your property to place her bees and in return you get honey. I think we may do that this year and next year get our own bees.

Thank you for the information. We had the opportunity to get some milk goats but we are not ready. Still not sure whether we will go there but it is rolling around in my head. It is so funny because when we decided to purchase land to start a farm, DH was dead set against any farm animals. Wanted to strictly stick to growing fruits and veggies. I gave him all of the benefits we would have with chickens and that they were low maintenance. The thing is his family raised chickens (over 150) and a few pigs when he was growing up. He never complained about the chickens just that he did not want to be bothered with them now. He is now saying we need more chickens. Our egg business has increased quickly and we are having a hard time keeping up with the demand....not a bad thing.

For those who we're asking: I sampled the wine fridge/cheese cave cheddar last night. I think it came out pretty good!

Now I can have my hygrometer back for incubating! Lol
That looks like it should be featured in a magazine!!!! OHHHH goodness!!!

DH and a friend took a beekeeping certificate course from the local beekeepers association. His friend setup a hive on our farm and DH took care of it the for the most part. The friend harvested once. He could have done it twice but choose not to. They sold all of the honey within 2 weeks. I forgot how many gallons it produced. It was really good even though they were told by some of their trainers it would not be. I looking at getting DH the beekeeping supplies he needs to setup our own this year as an anniversary gift.
