Oz, I'm not getting updates on my FB page from your Cocoa Beach page. Can't figure out why...hmmm!

That was kinda my thought, *but* there was absolutely nothing in it yesterday. (Yes, I'm a candling addict).

I'm fighting a candling addiction. I'd make candling a part of my evening routine and make sure that I always have eggs in the 'bator!!!
But I need a second incubator so I can set eggs more often then I can candle more often then I can have chicks more often, but then I'll have to build coops and pens more often. Hmmm Oh, well.

So, my eggs are on day 12. Originally set 39 eggs, 30 are still developing. Only lost one between the last time candeling till now. So far this is one of my best hatches! Guess I am finally getting the hang of my bator. (I think the fan I installed is helping also) But who cares! Hehe I am so excited!:weee Sorry I haven't been on for a few days, have some sick kids.. :(
My eggs are on day 11. :pop Hope your kids get better soon!!! :hugs
It is a home made bator. Other than the heating element and the fan. It is nothing impressive to look at but it works! :) Ugly and crude, but functional.. Hoping to make a different one soon. :)
What did you use for the heating element? I see it; I just can't identify it. :taken It was an element out of one of those Styrofoam Bator's. It was horrible at holding Temp's so I bought some insulation foam panels, glued them together, cut them to size. Bought some clear plastic plates from the dollar tree to use as the windows. Attaching the element and the fan was a bit tricky due to the insulation foam being thicker than the original foam bator.I poked holes in the sides and top for ventilation. I have three different thermometers in it to help me regulate the temp. Have not had to do much regulating since I put the fan in it. Wish I had taken pictures as I built it.

It really is a blast!!! I didn't win anything this year but it was still a lot of fun! The first year my family of 6 took home 6 prizes including a #50 bag of chick starter. I was feeling the glares

I imagine so. I'll have to see what I can do/find out. =)

I have to keep myself busy so I don't end up candeling when I'm not supposed to. Lol Otherwise, I'd be candeling all the time too. Lmbo

Same here. I have to force myself to stick to only candling on days 7, 14, and 18.
This hatch I candled on day 9; it got a bit too warm in the 'bator, so I used cooling the eggs off and leaving it open as an excuse to candle off schedule.
