Rough day yesterday led to a tad bit too much vino. I managed to keep myself from posting anything crazy on Facebook. I did NOT manage to keep myself away from the hair dye... Someone really needs to keep a better eye on me.

SilkieSensation, I drive past a piece of property where there were some chickens for a short time. I had watched a coop being built there and could hardly wait to see what would occupy it. Finally, one day, several gorgeous, full-grown Light Brahma roosters were visible in the yard outside of the coop. The property fence was totally unsuitable for containing poultry.

A couple days later, there were two small kids playing on the deck above the driveway; one of the roosters was ranging freely on the wrong side of the wrought iron fence, right by the gate. I pulled over to shoo him back through one of the gaps between the upright bars of the gate (almost exactly "chicken-wide") and call out to the kids about the situation.

We talked a bit about the chickens. I gathered the youngsters were grandkids. I told them they had gorgeous Brahmas. They seemed perplexed. Turns out those chickens were "Fancy Foot" chickens, not Brahmas at all. Ahhh, yes, Fancy Foot Chickens. And all roosters, too...

I never, ever saw them in the coop. And before too long, there were no Brahma... I mean, Fancy Foot chickens...in the yard. Not a single one.

The coop is still there. I wish I had a flat-bed truck, 'cause it's a pretty nice one, although it IS aging and a foot of grass is growing up through it. I bet I could get it cheaply. Of course, it would need something other than chicken wire on it, to keep ANY breed safe and secure.

That little boy was VERY adamant about his chickens being VERY special Fancy Foot chickens. Too bad his grandparents hadn't much of a clue about raising 'em.
Hmmm I bet you know someone with a flat bed!!!

You all are such effective enablers...sent out some PMs to see about getting both Maran and Dorking eggs for this hatch along

I probably should consider turning another barn stall into coop space at this rate!

I'm concidering another stall!!

Red or purple?

Quote: Are you looking in my windows? Yes, red was the weapon of choice, unfortunately time escaped me and it may have stayed on my head a weeee bit longer than intended and on my face, and on the rug and..... Thank GOD my beautiful Bella dog steered clear of me.

Like I told @angelobutter , if we do not see a picture it did not happen!

I remember those days-- and NOT fondly!! Honestly-- it does get better-- then they hit the tweens, then the teens.

Having my kids home on the weekend is almost depressing anymore. My 9, 12, & 14 year old are so engrossed in modern technology it's like they aren't even here. My 4 year old lost her playmate when he got a Kindle, so I'm always trying to find things for her to do. Getting the devices away from them is a nightmare. Honestly, I take them first when they are punished just to get them away from them.
