Yes, when I had turkey's they'd come up to door. And the peafowl are at the door almost every morning.

I'm assuming she's still alive? That's not as bad as gone and not alive.
Our townhouse in Delaware is on an 18 acre pond. I am sitting here typing this watching seagulls diving in and out to get water. This morning we had Canadian Geese honking up a storm. When it gets warmer we have blue herons and white egrets. Last year I watched an eagle hunting for fish. He would fly right by the window where I have my computer. You get an up close view of how large they are. The same is true with the herons and egrets. The young girl next door is a photography bug and has a really nice digital camera setup and was able to capture some really great pictures of it. We live about 5 - 8 miles away from Bombay Hook where they have nesting bald eagles.I think they are very pretty ,and graceful and remind me of home when I visited the sea everyday.

Quote: We have the great blue herons here in the summer, especially as there is a nesting area onthe otherside of town. Wonderful to seee more herons than I could imagine in one place and noisy-busy taking care of the new chicks. Otherwise they are a rare sight.
Years ago DH took my to the winter grounds for the bald Eagles. Many youngsters still looking dirty, not yet matured into the stark white feathers to come in the years ahead. I very rarely see an eagle now.
I envy you the peace of watching.
Every now and again, we catch site of a heron who just caught a fish from the pond. Once a heron caught a good size fish and it immediately puffed up with air to protect itself. The heron just took the fish by the tail and just kept slamming on the ground in our back yard until he could swallow....It was like watching Wild Kingdom live. Eek!We have the great blue herons here in the summer, especially as there is a nesting area onthe otherside of town. Welcome, put your skates on . . . .might need to switch to roller blades by set date.Ooh! I remember how this thread flew for the new year's hatch, so there's no way I'll be able to follow along much, but..
I would like to participate in the Hatch-a-Long!
Hopefully I'll have a broody still on set day. Got a couple setting now. I've had the incubators running constantly but haven't hatched a thing from them in months, so that will be a last resort. And I can set my own mutt babies.![]()
