Thank you Arielle. The one that just hatched I am going to try to stop it from matting. The others will gently wash off.SHe's purdy!
You'll just have to wait and see. Can you mark your guesses?
Try washing chick gently in warm running water-- use care to keep the head out of the water. and see if some of that goo will come off. With patience and rehydrating the goo, it usually comes off, or at elast most of it. THen put chick in a warm place lik the incubator to fluff up again.
If the new baby looks gooey, wash it off before it dries = much easier to clean.
Again, keep the water out of the face area so the chicks don't drown.
I want I want I want. Just not sure I am allowed to spend money on them.By the way birdbrainb (144) on Ebay will be listing her Bantam Wellsummers the last Sunday of this month. I know that at least a couple of people on here have expressed interest in them. I will be getting a set for this hatch.![]()
@Arielle I plan to use zip ties to mark the suspects. Probably get to it in the morning.
Quote: THey will appreciateit.
Not exactly what you are looking for, but I have Belgian D'uccles - mille fleur. I won't have a huge surplus, since DH convinced me this is what I should hatch for this hatch, but I could sell you some. Though if you can find some closer to you, obviously not shipping them half way across the country would be bestOK enablers. I am still hunting down eggs for the hatch a long... there never seem to be much in the way of bantam eggs on the BST pages. Anyone know someone with modern game bantams, belgian D'Anvers, japanese, dutch, or old english eggs for sale? I have found some, but not in time for the 29th. Worse case scenario I will use my CCLegbar roo over my layers and make some sex-linked easter eggers (or easter leggers).
Now that's funny, in a creepy sort of way!
Well, now that you have bought 2 batches of eggs, I'm quite certain yours will start laying.I just paid for my second batch of Call eggs. So, I'll have something to set for sure...my girl just keeps building the nest over and over again...maybe she should start thinking about putting something in the nest!![]()
Nice!
And how does a goose egg taste?I had a "pair" of Toulouse for almost two years before I realized "Kate" was a gander. "She" was great with co-raising Cayuga ducklings... Finally, I ordered 3 sexed goslings last Spring. Caleb, formerly Kate, has claimed all three for himself. Poor Angus.
But the girls started laying this March first. Whoot!
