I have gotten nothing!! ha ha ha I was to get my spot check on the 20th and still notta! and now this! why did I bother! goodness!

I made the mistake of ordering frontline spray that was not Amazon prime because it was going to save me two dollars. It was Amazon markeplace like your order(you are really buying from Avian Web). It was not shipped until the day it was supposed to be here and came in the regular mail delivery, stuffed into my little keyed mail box. It was in a non padded plastic bag mailer--the bottle was not even taped or double bagged. It was fine but for two dollars I would have had it in two days instead of 10 and it would have been packed better.

So they say "not to count your chickens before they hatch" but I didn't count my incubator space before I set.
SO I have 24 spots left in my incubator and 32 eggs arriving today, so I will not be setting any of my own barnyard mix eggs.
If anyone local to cornish NH 03745 wants some barnyard mix eggs for this hatch a long you can come get some for free. well free as long as you are setting for this event.
I have NOT tested fertility but I have 6 roosters to 28 ish hens and I have seen them "getting busy"
I am not NPIP but my birds appear healthy- take it or leave it.
hens are a barred rock, california whites, gold laced and silver laced wyandotte, production reds, black marans, a bielefelder, a black frizzle cochin, a buff something, a black something, and an EE.
my roosters are black frizzle cochin, bielefelder, showgirl, frizzles, and a silkie serama mix.
technically there is a chance of getting a pure bielefelder but no guarantees lol.
if you want some or all you can PM me.

Welcome! Do you have any pictures of Arubian Jungle Fowl?

Good Morning to all and off I go to work. Moved 68 eggs to hatchers last night, Dominiques, Silkies, RIR, and local mixed breeds that lay beautiful blue, olive, and dark brown eggs.

I expect to be setting eggs from my own flock, as well as some shipped Polish, Naked Neck, Speckled Sussex, and White Leghorn eggs, and if they arrive in time, some Swedish Flower Hen eggs - I have a neighbor who has been yearning for some SFH, so I thought I'd see if I can get some to hatch for her. I just hatched a couple of Polish and a NN from the seller who is sending me more eggs, and I confess, I always thought NN were singularly unattractive, but they make incredibly cute chicks, like something out of Dr. Seuss!

Hi there,

No, I dont have pictures of the Arubian jungle fowls right now, but i can take some, they are mostly specled, brown, black and some gray in color my specled is the most beautiful of them all

At incubation temperature, big end up either in the turner on in egg cartons. I leave them up to 5 days depending on the air cell condition. I turn on the turner after that but do not candle them until day 7 or 8. Shipped eggs need to be kept as vibration free as possible.

I do not do this for local eggs that were not shipped.

Thank you all for your replies! I decided to try...what do I have to lose? If it doesn't work, I would have just thrown the eggs out anyway!

I don't wear nailpolish, so that was out of the question. I have candles, but no white ones...they are all scented.

So I thought, well, what about super glue? I have some of that...but then I thought, well, I know super glue can actually damage some surfaces, so what might it do to an egg shell? Scratch the super glue.

I do, however, have a bottle of New Skin...you know, the liquid bandage? It smells like nail polish...so that's what I used! One of the silkie eggs' cracks is spider webbed...the other one looks like it started to spider web...so I think the fractures didn't come from getting stepped on by chickens or dropped, etc. I think the two eggs sat a little too long in the 20 degree morning temperatures and began to freeze, causing the cracks. If that's the case, there's no hope for them...but, like I said in my first sentence, what do I have to lose???

So the cracked eggs will go in the bator tomorrow with all the rest, sealed with liquid bandage :)

Not always true about the frozen eggs. My last hatch had 3 frozen eggs ( I marked them frozen ) when I collected them. I figured what the heck !. All 3 hatched

I have 3 blue ee's

Freezing has to be bad enough to crack the egg shells.

I am sorry you live in such a cold place!

Sharing from the Diary thread,
I ran into this a few months ago and shared it there,
for those who dont want to set so often there may be alternatives to storage and viability......
