Holy cramoli you guys! I ordered a dozen eggs from the breeder I went through for Cream Legbars. She told me that she'd sent 'a few extra.

She sent 12 extra. I ordered a dozen. Where am I going to put 24 eggs in my little octo bator? Hahaha what a wonderful problem.

I'm thinking of setting the bluest eggs, then check for development at 7 days. If I have quitters, I'll pop in the extras. Yes they'll be old, but the quitters are for sure not going to make it, and the extras still might. I just hate wasting those eggs.

SCORE!

I finally plugged in the incubator. Completely forgot to crank it on yesterday. Guess I'll set sometime late afternoon, will have whatever is laid today to add so 14 or 15 eggs.

Are we to take a photo of eggs in incubator when posting number set?

They are saying go ahead if you can.

Just set mine! Total is twenty-seven. (I have seven EE already going with ten days left)

One of my incubators is just like that. A 1st time use for me. Do you find a large difference in temperature from the bottom of the incubator to the top of the eggs? For some reason my thermometer at the bottom of the bator is consistently a degree or two higher than the ones reading at the top of the eggs. I bought another indoor/outdoor reader but don't have good batteries so I have to go back to town before I can get it running. Just wondered if this was typical of this incubator style?

I will update pictures every week so you all can see them grow and change. Two of the kittens have white on their bellies and some on their feet/legs. The one is a dark gray with only a small patch of white on chest and between back legs. The one kitten has kind of a white frosting over its back. I know there is a long haired tom running around. I think he got to her before I knew she was in heat.. :/ I will post some more pics of the kittens later. :) BTW, mom is doing great! :)

I think my brain has decided kittens aren't cute anymore. I live out on a dead end road in the country where people either dump cats, or just stop taking care of them. I feed my spayed and neutered barn cats (love them for the mice), but I have new unfixed cats move in all the time... And they have kittens. I have probably spent 1k altering cats that move in, and their kittens. I don't qualify for any low cost stuff. I guess I could just round them up and take them to the pound, but I know what would happen to them. I have a heavily pregnant one now and it makes me want to cry.

Off topic but after this hatch I'd like to set some EE eggs. If anyone has some I'd like to purchase a dozen or so. I'm in West Virginia. PM me and we can hammer out the details
If you don't mind e-bay, I just got some from this person. I asked for a doz. She sent me 13, no extra charge. Great price..and the blue in these eggs! Just Beautiful! One looks like it could be a F1 Olive Egg..don't mihttp://www.ebay.com/itm/8-Fertile-Easter-Egger-hatching-eggs-/321362591394?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ad2b3fea2nd that at all. But the others, are blue!

Here is a portion of our Easter Eggs set just now... 3 Maran, 15 Ameracauna, 2 Polish, 21 Brahma, 4 Welsummer and 15 Wyandotte. As the God Lord would have it some of our chickens like the Maran and Polish have decided to contribute to this. Can not wait to candle already!
