Wanted to share some pics of my broody Buff Leghorn, and they eggs she's sitting.

After a good look at the pic I believe I gave her 1 EE over EE egg. 1 EE over Black Australorp, and 8 EE over Cockoo Maren.

Correcting my count to 70 from the previously reported 69. Also wanted to post pictures:

45 eggs. Mixture of Buff Ducks and Runner Ducks with a few misc barnyard mix chicken eggs until I candle and remove clears

In my Farm Innovators styrobator

Mix of 12 guinea eggs, 12 "Meat bird" eggs qand 1 mixed chicken egg. Notice the one giant one? It came in the same
batch of shipped meat bird eggs as the others. I feel sorry for that hen every time I look at that egg....

@Sally Sunshine I set them on Saturday, I know that was early but I was so excited I could not wait. I put the ones with best air sacs in my mini brinsea. When I added water this morning I could not help but look :)

Thank you again!

Awesomeness!! I do the same!

Mine should hatch on 4/17 so not exactly an Easter hatch but close enough. Set 27 eggs in a natural nest incubation with a heating pad heat source. Candled on the 3 and 5th day so far and all but 3, I think, are showing wonderful growth and development and air cell progression. Gave initial humidity to the nest by adding a quart of water to the soil beneath the nest and will probably not be adding anything else to produce humidity after that. This is a still air, dry hatch I guess one would say. So far the eggs are looking great!!!

Will candle again on the 7th to mark air cells and again on the 10th to do my first removal of any eggs not progressing.

Feel free to join us. I do 30% in the first 18 days and 55-60 the last 3 days. I'm a laid back hatcher though, I rarely even look at humidity the first 18 days - don't even put a hygrometer in. I put it in at lockdown and raise the humidity.

I don't have the cool down feature on my brinsea.

We just can't count your eggs for the contest due to timing. We gave a +/- 2 day time frame.
Thanks Happy Chooks. I will post when I have set the eggs tonight.

Here's a link to the thread which details the experiment from the beginning....many ups and downs, learning and finally viable eggs and the method streamlined as much as I can get it: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...ral-nest-incubation-experiment-1-so-it-begins

It looks like it will be a pretty successful hatch this time if nothing major happens to the power source while I am away for a day, etc. Just a cardboard box, trash bag liner, soil, leaves, hay, eggs, meat thermometer, heating pad, water wiggler, and a some water in the soil before the experiment starts.
