I wish I could hatch.....but the eggs I was wanting to hatch SHE happens to lay. well this just stinks...ain't it?I'm sorry your hen did not cooperate. You could have given her eggs yesterday though and they would have still counted. Even if your eggs don't count for the total, you can still hatch with us.
The look on that face is priceless!
I hear ya!! I first got chickens just over 3 years ago. My DH built a mini coop and mini pen. We just finished a 12x20 coop for 4 hens and are planning a bigger coop. My DH said that he didn't think that my love of chickens would last.I guess I fooled him!! I have 7 eggs under my broody!!![]()
DH locked down Blue Wheaton Ameraucanas on Saturday, 2 hatched by the 19th day, one hatched on day 20. Still have rockers so hopefully some will hatch overnight.I do I do!! I have some Silkie eggs that just went into lock down this morning.![]()
I LOVE my silkies!!!!Oh my gosh! Now I want a silkie too....well you see, haha, I kinda sorta made my math teacher obsessed with chickens. LOL when I hatched in the NYD HAL I had told her I was to be getting silkies. once they hatched I showed her this pic of one:her name is Timothy. my math teacher began insisting on me emailing her pictures whenever we had weekend breaks or such. then I got her hooked on chickens. now she wants to come over to my house one weekend to meet timothy. LOL my mom came to my school the other day to drop off something I left for a project. my math teacher pulled her over and said: "your daughter had gotten me obsessed with those chickens as much as she is! I just love timothy!" HAHAHAHAHHAHA now my nickname she calls me is chick chick and I call her mama hen.

From someone not even a BYC member! I know! (I did give 'em a BYC "business card" to try to get them involved...) They sell local honey and fresh eggs (and hatching eggs) from their property on Pleasant Valley Road between Hanks Exchange and the big green water tanks. I stopped there last year and discovered they have the same problem with roosters as do I: can't kill 'em, nobody wants 'em for anything but processing, and they just can't do that to roosters they raised. So there are some absolutely GORGEOUS roosters in separate bachelor quarters. They keep a laying flock for "rainbow" eating eggs and some fabulous BCMs for hatching eggs.Where did you get the Marans eggs?
Mike, Is that one of yours or a visitor from the neighbors?
