I almost forgot, set 40......candled a couple today and have at least some developing.... first time setting eggs so I'm thrilled to see veins

:'( my dog killed all the chicks and the older duck.... :'( I'm so sad right now and my dh is really upset since u left in charge. The only survivor is the baby that just hatched.

Those are called lash eggs, and they usually are an indicator of internal laying.

Howdy doody! So I candled the eggs in my incubator and it doesn't look like a single one is developing anything, it being nearly a week ya think something would've veined by now if it was gonna eh? So does this mean I'm out of the hatch if I don't have any viable/developing chicks? *sighs* Hope ya'll have had a great week!

What color are the eggs? Green eggs are hard to see into, as are dark eggs.

Thought this was interesting,,, 3 days ago the veins in this call duck egg disintegrated into a cloudy mess. Embryo was still alive. Checked yesterday..embryo still alive. Today embryo still alive. WTHeck is keeping it alive? I know it will eventually succumb but this is strange.

I look forward to seeing what happens with this egg. Very interesting candling picture!

give it a few more day, I didn't check all of mine too closly I was mainly trying to find a stinky egg. But some were just starting a couple had good spiders..the ones right by my turner motor

I would give it a few days. And I'm sorry but you set eggs, you are stuck "in the hatch". If I recall correctly you had broodies sitting also.

Don't give up on the Marans, they are soo hard to see into! If they don't pan out I can bring you plenty more at the meet on the 25th. As far as whether you're a participant, I believe so...just maybe in the running for the worst hatch rate?

Just realized the olive eggs are very hard to see into too. Don't throw in the towel yet.

Does you hatch rate go by how many you set or how many are viable at first candling? I know people that do it both ways.

A side note: After the hatch along, I will be setting 6 Mille Fleur Bearded D'Uccle bantam eggs and 6 Blue and Black French Cpper Maran eggs!

Well candle session done. My own eggs look good. My shipped Ameruacana eggs look weird. Some air cells look ok but not sure there is anything going on. Others are dark as if they are closer to lock down than day7... trying to be optimistic. ..but definitely different looking. ..
