LOL why in the world does it play music?

No. Idea. All I needed it to do was hold temp and it can't even manage that! -bang head on wall- next time I am getting a better bator! Not even sure I would be comfortable giving this thing away, it would cruel!

Well, I just went out to look at her again and I guess she won't get up long enough to steal eggs -- there was one sitting in the opposite end of the nest box. It was warm, so couldn't have been there long. So I guess she's sitting on three golf balls and two eggs, lol. How many do they try to collect?

My other girls were laying their eggs right next to the broody in the community nest box. She stole every egg they laid! When I moved her to a broody pen tonight, she had 5 eggs and two golf balls under her.

I was pretty happy this morning i was eating breakfast then i was going to check my birds, then my great uncle called( he lives closer to my birds he's right next door to my grandfather who's farm i raise my birds on). He said he saw a fox running around with something in it's mouth. My stomach dropped i ran up there with my gun and it was the biggest fox i have ever seen. He killed my tom turkey out of all things i would of rather him kill a chicken instead. Im mad and going to kill it later.
So sorry about loosing your tom.

I hope the dogs don't come back. And I hope your roosters come home.

Are you positive they have blood rings? Sometimes the veining can appear to be a blood ring? If you aren't sure, leave them!

Adorable! Hopefully LOTS more coming soon!
The roosters still have not returned. DH worked today so he could not go looking again. He looked all day on Monday and last night. I fear they are gone for good.

Anyone know if it would really mess a hen up to give her chicks just a few days after she started going broody?

I was really hoping that some of our broody veterans would get their act together in time to adopt some of these HAL chicks, but so far no one is volunteering.

A couple of them (BO's) are clucking a little when they are walking around, and one BA sat on a bunch of eggs in the coop almost the whole afternoon yesterday, but she was out with everyone else today. I was hoping they would start at least a week before the chicks were due to hatch, and I would even give them some of the fertile eggs from the incubator to finish hatching. It is just so much easier to have a hen raise the chicks, especially if you are planning on integrating them into your flock later anyway.

Oh well, I will keep hoping. Only 11 more days to go til hatch day!
