haha, weird, i never turned the sound on, but its a computer, who knows what it is doing?
I have a "hatcher/brooder" aka my brinsea octagons and i put the babies in there asap because they crash over into the other eggs and sometimes the eggs will roll out of position. I know it is a "no no" to open during lockdown, but with the Rcoms the heat and humidity are back where they should be within 30 seconds so I am not worried about it too much, since I have been doing it this way I have only lost one chick to malposition and none to shrink wrapping so its working so far.
whatever "basic package'' they offer is what I have and it is free! they keep trying to trick me into purchasing a better package to remove ads and i think it gives you more space for prerecorded videos, and higher quality videos but ya I am a cheapskate where i can be too, so i am still using the basic package. however i might try the fancier subscription when i next breed my chihuahuas, so I can actually leave the house and not panic that my girl is whelping without me, plus videos of puppies sell puppies lol. The past litters I have just been a recluse for the week preceding the due date, and then usually the week after as well, but hopefully with live video feed I can go to my sisters house (across the street) for dinner and just keep my iPod turned on so I can see if i need to race home or not. not that i worry less about non champion breedings but when both the parents of an upcoming litter are champions I have a feeling I will worry waaay more than I already do lol.
Ooh I see. Yeah I've a coolerbator & put my soon to hatchers in a bin inside the bator so they don't disturb my earlier set eggs (when I stagger hatch). Would love a hatcher bator though, but I think that's just an excuse so I can hatch MORE eggs. :)

Hmm, didn't know they had a basic package that was free! Ads? What are those? I hear all these sites talking about ads but I haven't seen one in years... (Mozilla Firefox + NoScript). I get a lot of flack for that though; that I should be a good sheep & look at ads I'm not interested in to begin with. I say, if I feel a site is worthy enough, I will bring in customers via word of mouth, or even donate/buy their items. Otherwise, no thanks!

Doggy live cam birthing sounds really cool, and I bet that'll def give a peace of mind if you're not at home. Best of luck with the litter!

Why do I insist on going to look at the chick bins when I go to Southern States to buy feed???

Although, I'm glad I did this time. No chicks, but keets...with one, lone baby all by itself laying on its side, barely under the heat lamp, isolated in one of those cardboard chick boxes.

"What's wrong with that baby?" I ask.

"Dunno, it was like that when the shipment got here this morning. It either got too cold overnight, or it got trampled." says employee.

"Aww, poor thing. I hope it makes it." I say.

"Doubt it. One of the guys in the back will probably break its neck to put it out of its misery." says employee.

I normally have a pot of water on top also but forgot...

Me to... That's probably why it's only 12% humidity at the other end of my house... I have wet washcloths in my bator to bump up humidity. I wish I had a humidifier.
Do you have a crock pot? Put water in it, set it on high, leave the lid off and put it next to the incubator. Add hot water as needed to keep it from drying out.

from what i can tell if you don't have a fancy package the ads are when you first start watching the live feeds a like 30 second ad pops up first. but i just mute it and wait for it to be over. i haven't really noticed too many of them, i would love to be able to film in HD though. my webcam isn't great but I know it takes better quality video than what it uploading to ustream

well my internet just booted my camera offline, and i have to leave for a few hours, so i will fix it when i get back home
