but seriously should I give her eggs or would it be better if I gave her chicks that are closer in size and age to the ones that the other two girls are hatching this weekend.
That's really up to you. Either one would work. I would probably give her eggs, so I could have another mama with chicks in a few weeks. I like seeing them running around.

Why do I insist on going to look at the chick bins when I go to Southern States to buy feed???

Although, I'm glad I did this time. No chicks, but keets...with one, lone baby all by itself laying on its side, barely under the heat lamp, isolated in one of those cardboard chick boxes.

"What's wrong with that baby?" I ask.

"Dunno, it was like that when the shipment got here this morning. It either got too cold overnight, or it got trampled." says employee.

"Aww, poor thing. I hope it makes it." I say.

"Doubt it. One of the guys in the back will probably break its neck to put it out of its misery." says employee.

Yeah... I. Don't. Think. So.

Meet Gilly:

1000
LMAOO! I would have done the same thing! I mean when you have time, the will to help, and there is a possibility you could save the poor little thing then why wouldn't you!!
I am going to have a lone keet hatch out soon! with a duck and 4 chicks next Saturday I think! lol! poor little thing!
It is looking better! I had helped 2 of my keets last year who were a bit older than yours with symptoms like that too! both made it! just took extra watering with some sugar water, pedialyte to help rehydrate and vitamin water! I mixed all three separate and then mixed together and gave it to all of them! drank them extra when I was around their beds and they were perfectly fine within 2 days!
Good Luck! Hope your little Gilly makes the recovery!

Thanks

If the chicks are young, I would give her chicks. I've done that when they have sat for a while, and I have chicks. They they don't have to sit any longer. Haven't had any problems with mine accepting them..some do I guess.

Hope Petula Clark will forgive me

When Eighteen days pass and they have life to show
They go to Lock Down
The days that are left they pass so terribly slow
Because of Lock Down
You peak into the bator and wish you saw some pipping
You stare at broody mamas and your husband thinks you're flipping
He may be right
But it's an amazing thing
What could have been someone's breakfast
Will soon be hatching
During Lockdown
Chicks will be coming out
Lockdown
We will all whoop and shout
Lockdown
New chicks we're waiting for you

She has a bit of a Buff showgirl thing going in this pic dontcha think?...And I am not talkin Vegas I am talkin
