If y
your hen was acting protective with eggs wait till she has chicks.
My first girl was a polish and she had a chick last year that i got from meyers hatchery, and then I bought a silkie mother, of 4 and 1 died and the other 3 live, shes the one with the golden seabright now. Good mothers!

Should I put a chick under her? I got plenty!!!!!!

That color is very pleasing to the eyes.
They are just so pretty!!!! Hugely jealous! im sat waiting for my first chick to hatch, he is half way there and has resorted to doing more cheeping than hatching! I hope to have some chicks just as cute as these!!

Finally, a pip in 1 of the Silver Birchen Maran eggs...that gives me hope that the others will get there soon too! They are from a BYC peep and they eggs are SO dark...I am hoping they hatch for me...7 out of 11 were viable at lockdown (I think anyways, they were so dark on the inside too!)
Go chickies!

Wow! I LOVE MY D'UCCLE!!! I have 6 Porcelain pullets and 1 Mille hen, and 1 mille rooster! So far I have 2 broody hens right now and one just doesnt like to sit in the box all day! But when you put an egg in front of her face, she will sit on it all day and DONT GO NEAR HER!!! Also if you walk torward her she thinks she has a chick with her so she puts her wings up in defence.....
I got my oldest silkie hen with one of the chicks I bought from TSC, Its a golden seabright. Man they're noisy....

I love the d'Uccles also. They actually ask to be picked up and held! If you ever want to sell any of those porcelain pullets let me know! I would like a few more porcelains. The d'Uccles actually belong to my son. I have to rent space from him to use them as broodies!

Maybe it's because the people on the forum don't recognize you or what you're posting doesn't seem to be interesting to them.
I had a hard time getting started here on BYC, but when I started commenting on other people's pictures, I started getting comments as well. If you want others to comment on your pictures you need to post pictures that others are interested in. Usually when I post pictures it's because the content of the picture is special to me, but it might not be for others, therefore the reason for no comments. I have no intention for this post to be offensive, but rather helpful.
Take note of the pictures that others comment about and practice posting to see what seems to get attention from others. Often the pictures that get my attention are the ones that others don't seem to find interesting, so I have learned to take pictures in a way that others seem to like and readily comment on. Sometimes I'll just post a picture for the pleasure of others and don't expect to get any comments.
   Happy posting and learning!:thumbsup

I try that but it doesnt help . I always see people with hatching chicks and everyone talks to them. Thank you for this its a boost i needed since none of my chicks hatched.

How do you see into those nice OE's towards the end?

I also just set more..silkie eggs. A lot of them. Maybe I'll get some a few. Some are from a great breeder. Love her silkies. I've had two great ones from different hatches from her.
They are my most difficult to candle. I have the Brinsea ovascope and it is still a challenge. I can tell if the eggs are full or not.......if they are, I just look for movement. It's a little easier right before lockdown. On some of them I can see bulging near the aircell.

Good luck with your hatch:)

Well, if you had to pick just one, I'll bet it'd be that cockatoo. Sorry about the others. Feeling the sting over here too. All those eggs that looked so good at lockdown are just fading away..literally. It looks like I'm just praying for this one Call to make it out. It's name shall be Piper..... Parents are Poppy & Percy, so Piper sounded cute. How are yours going?
These duck eggs are killing me....The 4 that I set at the same time as yours quit at day 19. I have 13 others that are at days 20 and 21. First time I have ever dreaded candling. I feel that these also will fade away before hatch time. They just string me along until almost the end. I don't have any call ducks myself. I can't find anywhere near me to get any. That's why I keep trying shipped eggs. Last night I candled and saw two perfect little webbed feet sticking up...Now I really don't want to lose that one. I can't believe you named one :) I sure do hope he makes it for you!

Don't give up. 90% of my posts go without any reply. It does not bother me. This thread is speeding along and I admit that I skip about 10 pages to get somewhat caught up.
Right now I have a dead chick and a missing egg and one pip. The stress is getting to me.
