No pips or anything.... they were wiggling a lot inside on lock down but still nothing so far... on day 10 we had a power failure, not sure how long it lasted but the eggs were down to 66 degrees F when we got home. I candled them and prayed. On lock down we had 11 good looking ones and 5 questionable ones... keeping my fingers and toes crossed!

My hatch is done, I think. I do have 1 more egg that is still alive, but it hasn't pipped.

I hatched all 17 barnevelders, including one wrong way pipper. 5 welsummers, an olive egger, a cream legbar (cockerel, figures) and 2 BCM's. 26 total.

If they were wiggling, they will likely do fine!

When you see pips, you know chicks will be out soon too.

I think our hatching environments are way different.
I have been taking chicks out for a long time, years. Have had wonderful hatches, until this one!!!

Another thing we are different in, and I know a lot of people do this, but I don't give my chicks the electrolytes unless they are weak, then they get it separately. If mine are going strong..I don't give them anything but nice clean water. Mama hen doesn't carry electrolytes under her skirt.

We often have the wrong idea about sticking chicks. It is not really the short term lower humidity that makes them stick, it is the yolk that did not absorb that makes them stick. Humidity level will make it take longer for the chick to stick but if there is too much gooey yolk then they will stick regardless of humidity.

Shipped eggs will do this more but temperatures too low and or poor chick vigor will make them stick. It does not sound like they stuck in your hatch though.

I give the weak ones vitamin drops. I do not give them electrolytes. I do dip the beaks into water to make them drink.

out of round one of staggered hatch og 8 FBCM...2 were quitters and got stinky in lockdown, one ended up being clear..3 died in shell couldn't pip..2 healthy chicks so for shipped eggs got 25% not the best but not the worst either...still have more to hatch today.

You are a very experience Hatcher with a good understanding of consequences.

I use judgment when appropriate but when I deal with new people I like to advise them based on general principals.

Dominic, my replacement for Bernie is fairly experienced but I still have him follow policies and procedures.

We transfer to hatcher late but then it stays closed for 48 hours. We then assess.
