That just breaks my heart. I'm so sorry you lost her. I swear it's always the favorites.. I keep mine under bird netting at all times so I haven't had to deal with those good-fer-nothing hawks yet thankfully. At least she had a wonderful life with you.

I was wondering if anyone had some advice for me. I had posted a few days ago that my 4 duck eggs had all pipped early on day 25 well today is day 27 and they have made no progress at all. I haven't heard any peeps(not that they aren't I might just be missing them) but they have wiggled a bit here and there. Since they aren't actually due to hatch until tomorrow should I let them have the day to make more progress? Im not sure how long since they pipped but its been at least 36+ hours. It is my understanding they take longer from pip to zip than chicks. This is only my second time hatching duck eggs.

I lost my Call drake Percy last night.

I am such an idiot. At lock up he didn't want to go in yet so I closed everybody else up and decided I'd go back to pen them up in a little bit,and I forgot. Something was digging around the base to get at him, and as Poppy is on a nest, I'm sure he was fiercely trying to get at whatever it was. I found about 5 feathers outside of the pen. Still not sure how he got out, the digging only left about a 1 inch gap under the fencing. This absolutely sucks! It was so hard to find Calls in the first place, now Poppy is alone. I have a duckling, eggs in the bator, and some in her nest, but they are related!

check one, just make it just a tad bigger at the pip hole, like size of qtip and candle while you try to peer inside, if you can see just make a tad more bigger, NEVER open BELOW air cell line

Duckies can take a full 3 days to hatch once they pip. If you are very concerned, take the egg & hold it to your ear. You should hear tapping, scratching or peeping if it's still alive. When you put the eggs back, mist the inside of the bator with a spray bottle of hot water to immediately restore humidity levels.

I have a couple babies growing out. I'm sure there is a male in the mix. I can either ship all 3 together in a week or so, or wait until they grow out some more & ship just 1. PM me if interested.

Sally, duckies are very susceptible to shrink wrap. Never open the shell if you don't have to because you will have to assist with the entire hatch from that point. Either candle or listen to the egg as a first step. Only open the shell if you hav.e no other options left

So I am calling it, 5/92. Logger says there was an early sustained heat spike that may explain the large culls befire lockdown (about half) and a second one on the day I noticed it was at 94 - it had spent a significant part of the day at letal levels so I am actually shocked ANY hatched.

I'm going to break that incubator down for parts and shut off the others when they are done. No more hatching for me until I build a reliable one. Incredibly disappointing given that incubator had given me a couple 95 % and better hatches last year.
