Good night Cynthia12

If someone else is still up with experience, 2 of my eggs that had pipped about 10 hrs ago, started zipping about 1.5 hrs ago. They zipped for about 1 cm and then stopped & haven't done anything since then. How long shall I leave them alone before intervening. The little bit of membrane I see is white, there is not much else I can see so far. I guess I am pulling an all nighter today (again)

I would wait a bit longer unless you have reason to think that they are getting weak and no longer trying. If they don't make any more progress, you might want to help one zip a little more and try to see if it's glued in the shell. I like to get a good look at the beak to make sure it looks clean and dry and not sticky.
I'm up with a bad duck hatch.... Good luck! They may just be resting.

I would leave them be for at least a few more hours personally. They're getting oxygen, at least, and may just need a break. Hatching's tough stuff. If they have the strength and will to live, they'll make it eventually. I'm sure it's not everyone's case, but every chick I've assisted in any way (quite a few) either ends up dying within the first few days or if they do grow, they never make it past a few months old.

I hate it, she was my baby! I raised her by herself. She and I ran machinery together and did stuff chickens dont do! I took her to stores and we did gardening...
:hit  I HATE HAWKS!!!!!

:hit That just breaks my heart. I'm so sorry you lost her. I swear it's always the favorites.. I keep mine under bird netting at all times so I haven't had to deal with those good-fer-nothing hawks yet thankfully. At least she had a wonderful life with you. :hugs

I am glad I followed yours & Shaybaby's advice. One is out and cheeping and moving around but is leaving a streak of blood as its moving. What could it be? I can't see well inside the incubator. Shall I take it out?

P.S. the other one is half zipped as well so should be out anytime now. And it is out now!

Update: I think the blood was from the umbilical cord, it has mostly stopped now, just little smudges, so I will leave them there for couple of hrs to dry out.

Thanks so much everyone for making me stay patient. Patience sure is a virtue!

Glad they made it out by themselves! Patience is the toughest part!

Give it a few episodes too- I tried to get my husband to watch it and he said that them using their foreign alien language as cuss words made him think it was going to be cheesy- But it is really really good. Buffy the vampire slayer was my first look into Joss Wedon's shows and after i finished that someone suggested firefly, (and of course serenity) and the spinoff of buffy -"angel", and dollhouse. once you have watched some of his shows you can tell if you are watching something he had a hand in- he definitely has a "style" that works great, at least in my opinion. I feel like I heard a rumor that firefly was going to be resurrected? but I believe Whedon said it was not, in the same article. (sigh)

That alien foreign language was Chinese... :p
English and Chinese speaking cultures were the most dominant when Earth spread out so you see a lot of Chinese influence on other planets.. And it made it more appropriate for younger audiences to have the characters curse in Chinese. :)
