So I just bought 5 roosters and 1 hens yesterday. The fox took 1 rooster... sadly. But the breed is kind of weird... Its a black crested black polish and its bearded. I've never seen it. Have you guys?

So I just found all of my roosters feathers.... Another one of my babies. He was my crooked break mille.

Thought I would throw a question out there to experienced SHIPPED egg hatchers - Sally? Oz? Anyone?

I just received 16 hatching eggs (BCM & BR) in the mail from DMRippy. It was a quick trip (TN to MI - Saturday to Monday), but it looks like the box was a bit roughed up

- small hole/tear on one side - but thanks to the good packing job, all eggs were fine.


Can't see much of the air cells - what I can see looks small but fine (fresh eggs travel better, right?).

I was going to put the eggs in an incubator, but my sister just filled one incubator with duck eggs last weekend, and I am having trouble finding a good place for the other incubator (both LG's). The basement is a last resort, but I am a little worried about higher humidity down there.

My question to you is - Can I give these eggs to a Broody hen(s) without undue risk to their growth? I have heard all sorts of warnings about shipped eggs, but have also read a few posts that indicate it is possible to give them to a broody, and I have at least THREE broody hens who would be happy to volunteer their services right now! Honestly it would be awesome if I could just let the hens do all the work and worrying about temp and humidity, but I don't want to be foolish and risk the eggs.

What do you all think?

My understanding is if the air cell is normal then you treat it like a normal eh.

What are y'all's experiences with double air cells? Do the chicks hatch ok? ( shipped eggs)

Lost two more rooster tonight. But this time, it was a fox. I was working on rooster cages (nice and big I might add!) and the fox came up and snatched my roosters! RIGHT THERE!
