Hatch rates will be lower for eggs older than 2 weeks. Shipped eggs should not be older than 7 days because of the added stress from shipping.

Older eggs will still hatch--I would not set eggs older than 30 days and if I did I would watch them very closely for rotting.

Need to repost this one every now and again..think I will every night if that is ok until we get started, this is really important to know ron, and there are a lot of newbies this yr. Thanks!

I know, I saw it there before. And, it looks different to me now..it is a scrolling thing, and I can't get past the B's. What?

Yes! Post it as often as you want to.

It is important information.

Can we get the hatching 101 link added to the first post? Thank you!

And this was just posted.

I got my Octagon 20 Advance today. Yay! Setting a test hatch tomorrow. My question for Brinsea users - do I leave the factory set 99.6F or up it a little? I've always hatched around 99.9-100.2 in forced air.

I found the Brinsea factory setting to be spot on with my Advance mini. I used it twice last year, and all of the fertile eggs did develop.
I've heard good things about the Octagon 20 Advance.
Ventilation seemed to be my biggest issue. Mini users sometimes drill extra holes in the cover. I think the Octagon has ventilation holes though, it's a great model.

If I ever forget to say this while I'm soaking up new information, THANK YOU to everyone that's been patiently answering all my questions. I've had chickens for more than a year but this is all new to me.
