So, you want her added to the Hatch A Long here? That would be great...let Happy and ron know for sure.

Test hatch was basically a success. Running a little slow but no worries. I am sure you guys will want to see baby pictures!

And finally the little one that I thought wasn't going to make it!

Adorable!

I had to switch gears a few times on what I was setting...first was going to be some of my own eggs, but no one here is laying yet, second was going to be some B/B/S Ameraucanas, but they too are not laying, so my HAL has been saved by Papa's Poultry! I've got a mix of my favorite breeds shipping to me today. I won't know the exact make up for breeds until I get my package, but I'm super eggsited!

Yea!

You guys recommend the advanced or Eco Brinsea octagon incubator? Or is it better to buy a mini advance?
I like my Eco 20. I ordered the auto-turner with it and once it's set it is rock steady. It depends on how many eggs you want to hatch (7 just wasn't enough for me) and how automatic you want it. You still have to add water to the advanced unless you also buy the humidity pump so for me the extra $$$ for the advance just wasn't worth it.

"Subtraction" means taking away one and adding two in chicken math

Thanks for adding me! I am a bit nervous about it, as I have never tried hatching in an incubator before, only with a broody. And that didn't go too great either (she hatched one of three, but it happened while I was out of town and of course I didn't think to tell FH to move them out of the laying boxes. Little guy fell to his death before I got home). I also am not sure about how many of my ladies the roo is actually making happy time with. I have seen him get after about 6 of 11 hens. I guess we'll see what happens! FH doesn't know I'm participating in this HAL, but he does know I am picking up three (or so) chicks this weekend to replace the ones going into the freezer.

Good Luck with your first hatch using an incubator. Its nerve wrecking but oh so much fun. What will you be setting?

Oh and "making happy time" lol too funny, it made me snicker lol.
