I'm gonna have so many babies for Easter =D goslings, ducklings, chicks, bunnies, puppies, kittens. I did some candeling and it looks promising but I won't count my chickens before there hatched

Time to think about cleaning and setting up my Hatcher bator and disinfecting and setting up brood space for bantams, lf chicks, goslings and ducklings. I once tried to brood together and I can tell you I'll never do that again especially indoors, they'll all get there own spaces so I can keep everybody safe and healthy.

Aww! So cute! I can feel the spring madness hitting me just looking at them. I'm getting a shipment of chicks tomorrow!! Can't wait!

I finally moved one of my chicks from December out into her new coop today. her roo is going in Saturday after we SET THE EGGS! haha
I probably sound really bad putting the chicks out this late, but its just now getting nice out and I like to pamper everyone

I collected 4 eggs today...one of them had a hole in the top, so either it was an accident, or I once again have a curious egg eater!

Yes, there will be several more contests. It's my fault, I've been really busy and haven't had a chance to get them going yet. I'm working on it!

I'm so excited for this weekend!! This will be the first time I've used an incubator since I was in middle/high school and living at home. And with a brand new incubator. I didn't end up getting any breeding pens set up, so I'll just have a fun barn yard mix. I'm not disappointed at all though, it'll be fun to see what they look like. I have 2 black Cochin roosters and a wheaten ameraucana rooster covering everybody.

Plus my sheep should start lambing this weekend!! So I'll have chicks and lambs and eggs in the bator! And I get to be in a hatch-a-long which I've never done before! I feel like a kid in a candy store who just chugged like 3 mountain dews!!!!!!!

I want to do this HAL so bad, but all I got at the moment is backyard mix eggs. If I hatched them I don't think I would keep them. But I also want to try out my new homemade incubator would anybody want them? They would be an Easter egger, Silkie, Cochin mix

I don't have any trouble selling any chicks this time of year. Craigslist works great.

I have lost my mind this year... cots, button quail, Legbars, and old english game. Seriously? Someone keep me away from the egg auctions... at least until I finish building the new incubator. 

I seem to be having this problem too. I have to hurry up and fix one of my bators so I can fit everything I want.

Thanks for adding me!  I am a bit nervous about it, as I have never tried hatching in an incubator before, only with a broody.  And that didn't go too great either (she hatched one of three, but it happened while I was out of town and of course I didn't think to tell FH to move them out of the laying boxes. Little guy fell to his death before I got home).  I also am not sure about how many of my ladies the roo is actually making happy time with.  I have seen him get after about 6 of 11 hens.  I guess we'll see what happens!  FH doesn't know I'm participating in this HAL, but he does know I am picking up three (or so) chicks this weekend to replace the ones going into the freezer.

Okay mods, I am officially in!!!!! Making it annoyingly obvious and all, please pardon my boldness I would have set my eggs today, but the new incubator is still getting to the right temp/humidity, so...... I'll wait for Thursday

Yes enter, if no one goes broody just let us know in the thread it didn't work out.

Can you enter the contests, even if you're not hatching eggs with the HAL?

Yes, most contests are open to all BYC. Each contest has it's rules for participation listed.
