Thank you!  I was hoping someone who had the same model would post.  I was just reading the online manual, and it was saying to put the Thermometer on top of the eggs?  I have mine on the wire, didn't think twice about putting it there because it's the first time I've ever used this incubator.  I'm hoping the temp isn't way high once I adjust the placement of the thermometer?  Where do you normally place your thermometer?

I'm hatching my own eggs too!  First time for that also!  Do you have a humidity gauge in there too?  I wasn't going to worry about it, but everyone on here seems so intense about it, maybe I should get one?

Thanks for your help!

I keep mine on top of my eggs (they're in an auto turner) I also do have a hygrometer/thermometer to keep track. In my area, too keep humidity around 30-35, I have to fill trough 3 instead of 1. I also wouldn't have a clue when my water ran out if I didn't have it lol.

kinda hard to see but that black thing is my hygrometer/thermometer

I almost forgot, I didn't set quail today. I went on a search for my brooders today and one of them has a coating of motor oil on it, in it, and everything else.

There goes my quail brooder. I'm pretty sure I know who did it. Ugh. I'll have to wait until the HAL is over to set quail. See, quail are aggravating.

I will move my thermometer on top of the eggs when I get home from work. Well I guess I'll have to try to find a hydrometer somewhere. Thanks for your help.

you're welcome :) it shouldn't be too big of a deal as long as you can see it through the window. Being forced air, temps should be the same throughout.

I have a egg eater too a leghorn she in a wire dog kennel for now.

No broken eggs today except for the turkey egg someone laid while on the roost. Hope they get it figured out soon. Of course, one of the chicken eggs was so pretty and met my weight criteria, so I set it. It will be lonely being the only one not included in the HAL.

Well, my final straggler from my test hatch finally hatched out tonight! The other two died, unfortunately - probably right after they went into lock down. But my total for the hatch was 10 out of 12. :D

I am sad that this little thing is three days younger than all the others - and it's the only white chick in the bunch. I'm worried it will be bullied. I guess we'll see tomorrow. It's going to spend the night in the nice warm incubator.

Once the AI scare clears up, The University of Arkansas' Dr. Bramwell has some in his project flock as does P. Allen Smith here in Arkansas.  Right now I know Dr. Bramwell is not giving out eggs as he is not allowing any outsiders on the grounds to prevent potential spread of AI.  I do not know if P. Allen Smith ships or sells eggs but he does have a web site for heritage fowl.

Thanks for the response! Yes, the U of Arkansas was the one I was referring to, but did not know about the P. Allen Smith, will check into that. Thanks again!

Ok... my final total is:
4 swedish mix ducks & 10 barnyard mix chickens. Mixed roo over EE'S, BR & a mixed hen. At least I think it's that roo. I have 2 banty roos but I don't think they've mated with any of the hens.
