THE EGG PEELING DRAMA CONTINUES!
I set out this morning to try to find the best way for me to peel fresh eggs. All the eggs except 3 that I used today were all picked up out of the coop all throughout the day. The others were picked up last night.
My findings were very surprising!
I found that the best way to get your eggs out of its shell is to boil it, cool it down to where it can be handled, pick it up, walk outside and throw it at a tree. There you can see the shell fall to pieces right in front of your eyes!
No, really, it was a productive day and my intent was to find a way to peel these eggs with ease. There HAD to be a better way out there to peel fresh eggs than what I was currently doing with a spoon. I added a couple of other options to my research after reading more posts. The questions that arose in my mind were these...is it the boiling time, what they are boiled in, how long do they need to be cooled down, do they need cooled down, how long to wait to peel, etc...?

THESE ARE MY RESULTS

I weighed the cost and time in boiling them and peeling them. I found out how I am going to do my peeling from now on.

. It means more time on the stove and maybe even more electric. It is approx 20 min steaming and, not a simple 5 min of bringing your pan to a boil then turning off the stove. However it is not time crying at the sink.

It is well worth the 20 min in steaming. I may even cut my time down to 15 min since my water boiled completely dry at 20 min. I waited until the egg was completely cooled down in the pan until I got to it. I ran it under a little cold water and the shell slid off without splitting the egg when cracking it. IT WORKS JUST LIKE THE ONES IN THE STORE!

e This option gives me time to get to them when I can or peel them when I want them warm. It worked the SAME in peeling them with both hot and cold temps.

Today was very labor intensive and all my kids agree that steaming is the way to go!

I even showed my 70 year old neighbor. She was VERY impressed and, told me she will be changing her ways. It is hard to change sometimes, BUT when she saw what was happening she said that she would steam them from now on. I now have control in my life over eggs and not the other way around with eggs having control over me with timing, heat, cooling, etc. This is now my fail proof way with fresh eggs. Yes! I am sold on steaming eggs from now on!
I took pictures in disbelief with what was happening.

I hope you all enjoy this real life experience and it helps you. Again, I am not saying there is a right way or wrong way to peel eggs. I am simply showing what works for me in this season of my life.
