agreed! We have 4 boys from fall's hatch waiting for some warmer weather before they make the trip to the freezer. I've also noticed a lot of rather large combs on my 3 week old Marans in the brooder. Looks like June/July there'll be even more chicken in the freezer

Anyone have a FBMC/SS cross? I'm squeezing in a hatch before the Easter HAL of SS and FBMC under SS. Just curious about possible results.

i have seven ready for a freezer vacation, strange that the weather outside is way to cold, seems like an oxymoron....

Dropping in to say hi to all my fellow Easter hatcher. "Hi"!

Hens were lazy today, only 4 eggs and that is from 20 hens of laying age. I do know one is in serious molt though.

Last year, I hatched almost two dozen eggs, scattered through four different hatches. I desperately wanted a rooster, and the final gatch I ended up with two lol. I had a ton of extra pullets.

I hatched 12 7 cockerels and 5 pullets.

My last hatch I ended up with 12 and 7 were roos too!!!! lol
