I just couldn't resist!!
That's funny!

I have a broody and today was her 21 days. It is a first time for both of us.
She got off her nest this morning and someone else got in and laid an egg. She was only sitting on 2 eggs anyway. In the mean time, she found a nest box full of eggs laid today and is now sitting on them. I candled the eggs she left and 1 of them is moving, has a good air cell and has good veins. It still needs to absorb some yolk and then will be ready to hatch in a day or 2. The other is a dud. I put the good one under her in the new nest box with the new eggs. Is this what I should have done? She accepted it right away.
You need to pull the other eggs out so they won't start developing. If she's wanting more eggs, give her fake ones with the real one to keep her sitting on them until the chick hatches.

Thanks for the suggestions and re-assurance. I'm glad to know I did the right thing.
I think she just got confused and the bigger hen wouldn't let her back in the box she had been sitting in. I have some golf balls I can put in there. It may be a war to get the new eggs out from under her though.
Co-op said they are getting chicks Mar. 1, so I could get some friends for the new chick. I am thinking I need to move them to their own isolated tractor for safety after reading other posts about hens attacking the new chicks.

oh boy got some new toys for the field....today

How many eggs does it hold?

It will abandon the others when this one hatches.

My hatch that is due to Friday, tommorow, is now starting to hatch. So far 1 Naked Neck from the orange barred pen. There are at least 4 more eggs that have started to peck out. :ya
