Thanks for the good luck wish. I had 18 chicks this morning (hatch day) when I left home. There were about 5 more pipped and or zipping.

Hallo, hatch herd! I finally got sucked into the thread. For the thread mods: I will NOT be participating in the actual HAL, as I hope to set my eggs sooner. If for some reason my plans change, I will post and make it really obvious that I'm entering

In other news - I'm getting a Brinsea incubator!! Yaaay!!!!! The one I have now is a cheapy styrofoam still air, and it has been horrible! DH has insisted on getting me a new bator for a while, now, and I kept saying no. Well, I finally caved.

A-oh, Premier 1 has a poultry catalog now. I'm in trouble! Tho' I picked up another hot plate and chicken waterer this morning so hopefully I'm safe for a week or so! Also found a cooler to turn into a bator with my incukit! If/when I get that running I'm really in trouble!

I came home to my DH making me a new brooder box for when the chicks hatch. Sometimes I am pretty sure he suffers from "the dreaded chicken addiction" too! I would show you but for some reason pictures aren't loading from my phone. I have tried a couple times multiple ways! What's the deal?!!

So I had to break down and do it from the computer to get my pics up. These may not look like much to anyone else, but trust me when I say my DH is NOT known as a handy man when it comes to building! It looks like raising chickens is bringing some hidden talent out of him. It is almost as much fun watching him transform as it is the chicks! I am so proud of him... I didn't even ask for him to do this for me!

Now if I can just get him to leave me alone about starting the incubator sooner!! He can't wait and keeps threatening me that he is going to go buy another one so I can start some now AND with the HAL.

Does anyone remember the thread about a square of aluminum foil over a nest box that BYC started?
I think it was an April Fool's day joke but I never looked too much at it.
Apparently it was supposed to help hens lay better.
