That's a smart 7 year old, to be attracted to Turkens so early. I think that was about the age I was when I saw my first one. Wasn't long until I got me a rooster like that. The Bajed Neck/Turken is still about my favorite chicken. Can't decide which is my mist favorite Turjen or Easter Egger. So I've ck e uk with a solution that that problem. I'm crossing them together to make a green egg laying Naked Neck.
My turken hen is Araucana/NN and hatched from a green egg. They are 4 months old so I am waiting in anticipation to see what she lays. (I am clueless to genetics so everything is a guessing game to me...lol) She's not as pretty as my roo....lol She has a couple feather tufts on each cheek which look really off and her bow tie almost the complete length of her throat. But she has a decent personality. I love my nn roo. I think he's gorgeous. He's gonna be my main coop roo, (and he'll ride anything....lol he's not picky, though he already has his favorite gal.)

Does Mister Rooster have much bow tie? Reason I ask is with such a big bib on Miss Hen it is an indicator that she.carrues only one copy of the NN gene. I can't remember the letters abs signs for tge genetics of it.
If he has Littke to no bow tie then they probably hatch out 3/4 naked necked. Otherwise if he's got a big bib then it will be close to 1/4 to 1/2 being fully feathered, not naked neck.

One run of mine are that way. Approximately 1/4 are fully feathered. I usually sell those as crossbreds.

Yay!!! Glad your joining! More exciting about your human baby hatching, I hope she comes on time and goes as smooth as possible for you and her. Any names picked for her yet.

Also what type of chickens do you raise? Im in NH also.

No names yet, Me and my husband are terrible at names haha. With our last baby the day before they induced me my sister's family had us over for dinner and then wouldn't let us leave until we had picked a name.
I just redid my flock, got rid of everyone except for two favorites and 6 layers. And I just hatched a ton of silkies, waiting this year to grow them all out and picking who is the best quality and what colors I am going to work with next spring.

He's the roo in my avatar.

Quote: I actually ended up going over a day and had to be induced. That boy was and still is stubborn. Fingers crossed!

Ok, I wasn't able to get the spot check, so I got a zoo Med with a probe. Also got a humidity gauge since mine is lost. I'm calibrating it right now.
I was on my phone, so I couldn't post much. The zoo med actually shows how off the candy/meat thermometer is. I'm really glad it's not used for that anymore. I just realized how steady my incubator is after having it for nearly 4 years. The second the temp drops to 98.8 it kicks on and kicks off again at 99.8. Not bad for a drafty room. For the past week I thought my incubator wasn't holding temp. Nope, it was the thermometer.

If I ever get one it would have to look a bit more 'elegant' than the pics I have seen

I never thought I'd want one until I hatched a couple. Some I find attractive, others I find homely, but so far I love their personalities. I really really really want a couple showgirls though. Good quality showgirls. With the big puff....lol They (nns) are adorable as chicks though....lol
