The frizzled ones are pretty cute when they are big too

Look at the light blue splash's head looking over the back of the white one...lol

I have not decided how I feel about the sizzle/frizzles yet...lol I was supposed to get some showgirl, silkie, frizzle/sizzle, nn and barnyard mixes for this hatch, but the girl I am getting them from says her hens are still barely producing yet, so that's backburnered till summer, instead I'm getting Spitzhaubens, and barnyard mix with a couple Japanese Bantams and Brown leghorn thrown in....lol

Finally finished building my second coolerbator, whew. I didn't realize it was smaller than my first one till after I started but it's done. I now have both incubators running for temp testing, marked all my eggs and I'm impatiently waiting to put them in. I am so excited about this, hubby didn't even get upset when he found out how many eggs I got or that I had to build the other incubator, LOL. I'm going to have some purebreds and some mixes so hoping for a very colorful brooder. Oh when do we tell how many we set and how many hatched? I seemed to have missed that in the first post.

Hatch rates will be lower for eggs older than 2 weeks. Shipped eggs should not be older than 7 days because of the added stress from shipping.

Older eggs will still hatch--I would not set eggs older than 30 days and if I did I would watch them very closely for rotting.

Thank you ron for this information!

NNs are... something. My grandmother had a bunch in her flock. It eventually bred out, but that is some disturbing stuff for a small child. My grandmother's chickens were the only ones I had ever seen. I'm in agreement with my parents. I don't want NNs.... ever.

I see them as an acquired taste that I never got.

My NN dust bathing with an EE..both white...

Here she is in her nest box looking purty cute. :) And still dirty after the dust bath.
