Newbie here. Does anyone have the Farm Innovators 4200? I have mine going and it's at 101 degrees and 85% humidity. How do I get the humidity down? Should I not have put water in? Is there an easy way to put in take out water? Also, I saw someone speak of a "liner" on YouTube. Mine did not come with one what should I get to line the bottom?

Give it a day to see what the humidity settles to. If it is still too high, remove water from one tank.

Play around with it to see what you need to do to get the humidity to the level you want. If it is empty and humidity is too high, you can try adding un popped popcorn to the water tanks.

I use:

The go this way on the space next to the rails where they can sit. Two raise humidity to 32% today.

I had my incubator set up all week. I borrowed one (the one I'm taking about) and it took a while to get things stable. Well finally it was steady for a couple days. It's and older LG. I set my eggs being careful not to touch the thermostat, since many said a tiny bump could mess it up. WELL. The temp went all over, Mine hit 103 deg and spent all day watching and making adjustments. finally last night at 7pm it stabilized at 99.5. It may be slightly low for still air, but I'm afraid to make any more adjustments. Not sure how long you let yours run, but I believe some incubators are a pain. Don't get me started on my hygrometers. I calibrated them, however, I'm still not sure one is holding. I ordered a replacement and this crazy one is going back. Have to use it for now, Ugh! So, it's not you, some incubators make you crazy. My other incubator is great, no problems at all.

Yep, that's why I demoted my styrobator to a chick-warmer-only. No matter what I did, that thing spiked up and down like crazy. I hated it. The Brinsea I just got is a lot easier to dial up and down, and so far it has been cooperating.

Hi guys! I Have a quick question... I had more eggs than would fit in my bitty bator, but I also have a broody so I set a couple under her. When I spill the beans about numbers should I count just what's in my Brinsea or should I count all of them?

Count them count them! :)

I just picked up my shipped Wheaten Ameraucana eggs from Lark Rise at the P.O. !!! :celebrate  They were beautifully packed - none damaged!  I ordered 12 and she sent 18!!!!    Beautiful blue eggs! :love  I candled and a couple have slight saddle air cells, but nothing too serious.  I am planning on letting them sit the rest of today and tonight, and then setting them with my other eggs tomorrow morning.

Yay!! They sound gorgeous :D

I wish I could have as many chickens as you all. I can only keep 10 chickens at a time, when I have 16 now.

Our limit is 10, also, and I think we have 11 right now. I want more, but until I cut down on my roosters, that is a definite "no". I have four right now, bleh.

I believe that this is what is known as a " Fluster Cluck" !

All my hens, except 2, want to lay in the same nest. But, at the moment, there are 2 attempting to sit on eggs. I'm going to count and mark the eggs tomorrow for the HAL, I won't be putting any in the incubator.
These two ladies will have to work it out.

LOL!

Thanks! It was at 20% humidity without water so I added a bit. I'll check again in the morning to see where it settles... Should I use a dropper to put water in? The incubator has an auto egg turner so it's kind of hard to see where to put water with the turner in... Play around with it to see what you need to do to get the humidity to the level you want. Quote: a wafer looks like a paired disc, and has gas inside. the gas can escape over time or with defects/abuse and then it will be next to worthless BUT it is replaceable. this video shows how that works. if yours has a wafer it may have just gone bad as it needs to expand (needing the internal gas to do so) to shut it off, if the gas is gone then it will never shut off the heating unit.

You can use a funnel and a tube to go through one of the holes in the egg turner. Move the egg out of the way of course.

Humidity comes from surface area evaporation not depth so you want to completely fill one tank. Wait for the humidity to go down to about 20% before adding more. Usually I can go about three days before adding water.

Thanks. I will have to double check the one in question. So far the thermostat goes on and off. At least its my borrowed one (maybe not the smartest thing I have done, more in likely what i borrowed opposed to the idea). I will just have to baby sit it for three weeks.

Is the wafer visible or inside a box?

I was just looking over the HAL participating list. Either someone else uses my same name, or I'm in there twice...
My "test hatch" went well. These nine are from Ladycat's OE's.
