The 6th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

I have couple of valuable eggs whose egg shell has small triangular chips off. I would say about 3 mm each way. Can I cover that spot with tape or with a nail polish? Anyone has done that and the eggs hatched without issues?

Many years ago I helped with research on embryo development in chickens. I would cut a roughly 1/2" square piece of eggshell off the egg to observe the growing embryo. I would seal it back up with sheet paraffin wax (para film), using a little soldering iron on low to melt the edges of the window in place. The eggs developed without a problem (I ended up with a couple of nice RIRs that got accidentally left in the incubator past 21 days... Just melt a little canning paraffin, let it cool until it is warm and pliable but not hot enough to cook the egg, and just spread it over the little holes with a finger.
