I had an egg eating issue with multiple hens. I would make sure to collect eggs as soon as I could hear an egg song. Meanwhile I would leave 3 hard Styrofoam eggs in the nest where the eggs are usually laid. The Styrofoam eggs took a little bit of a beating but no big chunks just a few pecks here and there. After about a week I didn't have anymore issues with egg eating. I guess they assumed all the eggs turned to Styrofoam and they stopped eating them.

I haven't posted much but have been trying to follow along.

So far everything was going good. Last night well actually at Midnight I went to bed and everything was fine. Temp & humidity great. Then

. I shut the door to the room the bator is in last night and we got a cold snap.

The room gets cool when the door is shut and I didn't think about the wind cold coming. The good news is It only took 20 minutes to get the temp back up but I know I'm going to worry about it in the back of my mind for the next 19 days!

@wornoutmomto3 Too Funny!!! Love it. I have passed up chicks 4 times in the last week. Don't know how long it will last.

@Puddin Fluff Nice looking girl! Looking forward to seeing pics of what you get!

@Wisher1000 Nice! EEs Cool! What will you do with all of them? I'm looking for a few chicks to add. My only EE lays brown eggs.

I have golf balls and fake eggs in mine, she waits until one hen lays a egg then she runs her out of the nest box goes in eat it, then she walks the ramp past all the others waiting for her next egg. while in the kennel she has eaten her own egg.

Good Grief that's not good! Mine were never that intense about it!

Well I am sick to my stomach ! I checked on my Temp and the display on my new F I Pro Series reads 100.5. I have two acurite thermometers in there and one read 108 and the other 109. And the worst part the high on each one read 127 and 120.
What's even worse is last night I took a picture through the window of all the thermometers like I have been doing which makes it easier to read. BUT I only looked at the thermometer display on the Bator which has held steady at 100.5. I see now that the spike happened sometime yesterday or ??????
I've been sick and of course Sat night I did t go to bed until 6 am Sunday Am.....with all this egg setting eggcitement.
I don't know whether to be ****** off or sad or both....Guess I am both. Not to mention I spent a lot of money on shipped eggs.
Even sadder I was in town (while the spikes were no doubt happening) buying another incubator cause I thought $94.5 was a good price for a digital Bator with a turner and fan. Oh and it doubles as an egg cooker ! Put a call in to FI. There going to call back. They said it is a new Bator no complaints yet. I'm first.

Get a thermometer from incubator warehouse or a brinsea spot check. They are more accurate.

It sounds like the acurite thermometers do not read in tenths. Those are not accurate and or sensitive enough for incubation- they do not have to be for their purpose of checking room temperature. Incubation thermometers need to be very accurate so they are much better.

Keep incubating and candle on day 7 or 8 as normal. The embryos may be just fine!
