I am always terrified of candling. I don't want to know how many duds, and I do not want to drop them. One time I carried the incubator to a bathroom to candle and I tripped and the eggs fell all over the floor. Carpeting--but the two that broke were GROSS and I had a terrible hatch I assume from them all getting jolted so hard. Therefore I am a non-candler type lol!

Oh I would have had a panic attack but sounds like an awful experience! I too carry my entire incubator to the bathroom to candle so I can see that ...slow motion...AAAHHH!

My problem is I love to candle but I do try to hold myself back. At least this time I haven't done it every day. This makes me very proud of myself LOL. Love seeing the everyday changes, there is always something new. I keep my incubator in the laundry room behind closed doors so just do everything in there.

Getting stronger, but still the occasional coughing fit and the accompanying chest and back pain.

I bought a pineapple yesterday but it wasn't quite ripe enough. It did seem to help some. It's still good for what ails me.

Does anyone use the infrared thermometers, if so what do you suggest I buy?

They're good for reading surface temperature but unless you spend thousands, they'll only be accurate to within 2% which doesn't tell you much of anything for the purpose of incubating.

Anyone ever have an egg stuck in the egg turner?

it appears that some are changing total eggs set with every mishap or candle,

is that what the judges want?

Dang, disappear for a couple of days and I can't count how many pages have happened.

I am happy to see you have all done fine without me. 

Now excuse me while I go add more sap to the boiling pan. I shall come up again for air sometime.

This maple syrup making is kind of fun. 

I want to do this for the spring, we had only 3 days where we had 50 degree weather. Then it turned cold again. I thought I missed my window of opportunity. I am thankful that I didn't. I have a driveway lined with old maple trees. I heard there is a lot of boiling and I want to be up to it. However I have to research when I need to tap them here where I live. Thank you for sharing...it seems there are a lot of people on here with interest in making syrip and/or candy.

Yes, I have. It broke when I tried to get it out. maybe someone else knows of a more effective way...

I dont think so...i think they were wanting iur original amount and then number of chicks hatching. It wouldnt be too fair if we change our number after every clear found.
