Well bad day for me. I'm down to 16 eggs from 49, and only 1 out of my 9 turkey eggs is among them. It has a severely saddled air cell, so I'm not holding out hope. But the worst is that my dog got out this morning- we still have no idea how, because what dog jumps a fence for the first time at age 11? At some point during the day he killed our favorite hen. She's the only one who gets out of the run to go forage. Today was her last day foraging and laying us a beautiful dark brown egg. Skittles will be missed. :(

Aww I'm so sorry :hugs

I'm sorry for your loss. Are you sure it was your dog that killed your hen? Given that he hadn't tried it before, I would believe another dog or animal came into the yard and killed your hen and your dog was just trying to protect it. Just a thought.

skipped a few pages. I wanted to post that I tried the steaming method for cooking / peeling eggs and was quite impressed.

My steamer is too old though and did not make it through the second set of eggs. Any recommendations for a new steamer. Should I stick with a steamer unit or get the pans to use on top of the stove. I kind of like the steamer units as now they come with digital options and delay features. I have to wonder if I can add water while they cook though.

OH and I couldn't wait any longer (5 days) I had to try my pickled eggs! I have never eaten picked eggs before so I was kind of scared at first haha, but they are SO GOOD! How have I gone this long without trying these? I also love that they picked up a little bit of a pink hue from the onion :)

You are one of the few people I have seen to cut the eggs like my Dh does. I cut them into long slices or long halves much like the deviled egg shapes. i like how you have arranged the egg on the pretty plate.

I tried them both ways I like this just because it seems more like a snack haha, not a full mouthful. or maybe I am just lazy and done feel like cutting them up haha

How well did they take the flavor after five days?
