Just did my last candling! I am still going strong at 7/7. Though the quantity is not as impressive as others, I am still happy about the rate so far! And I can't believe how fast this hatch has gone by!

Good news for sure!

Ok. 50 set. 49 at day 7. And despite this morning's temp spike of 104 I still have...
...drumroll please...

48!

Ok, truthfully, there are 2-3 that I just can't tell. So I gave them question marks and I'll check them extra well at lockdown. One of them is almost certainly a quitter, but I kept imagining movement. The only one I pulled was a poor little peanut that likely quit around the time of the last candling.
Way to hold on chickees!

I would turn it till day 18 at least. It might be stubborn but you will be doing it a service by doing so till then. It also exercises the chick inside. Might sound a little funny but he has to use those muscles to turn its self around while zipping.

X's 2, keep on a turnin.

Day 14 and 18 of 20 are still in the incubator. Most look good but some of the shells are very dark and i cant see. They were all growing at one point. What do all of you use to see into those real dark eggs.

At the end of incubation, you do not see much because the chick takes up most of the shell. Look at the air cell for development and sometimes you can see the chick move inside the shell.

I know that. But I couldn't see much at the beginning. The shells are really dark. First time hatching dark shelled eggs.

This four week old OEGB was all alone so she got put with two day old serama chicks. I never thought a four week old chick would have such a strong mothering instinct. The cuteness is almost too much.
