We are due to hatch Saturday 4/4 over here... Why did I plan my sons bday party for the same day? I will be antisocial lol.

I plan on doing lockdown on Wednesdy morning. I have a few bantams in there and I've read that sometimes they hatch a little early?

I hatched 3 today, and 13 larger breed, two big eggs went before the 1st lil, then bigs, then lil...I went into lockdown on Wednesday... Go back into lockdown this Wednesday with 7 banty eggs for HAL...
400

Ok. 50 set. 49 at day 7. And despite this morning's temp spike of 104 I still have...
...drumroll please...

:celebrate 48! :celebrate

Ok, truthfully, there are 2-3 that I just can't tell. So I gave them question marks and I'll check them extra well at lockdown. One of them is almost certainly a quitter, but I kept imagining movement. The only one I pulled was a poor little peanut that likely quit around the time of the last candling.

Looking good so far. :)

Go baby chicks!!! Go!!!

I've still got about 44 going but I may have to cull a few.

This four week old OEGB was all alone so she got put with two day old serama chicks. I never thought a four week old chick would have such a strong mothering instinct. The cuteness is almost too much.
What a sweet OEGB!! Those little Seramas are so fortunate to have it. Is it a pullet?

Whew, went out of town and am 500+ posts behind! Sorry if I missed anything. I can't read through all of that.

So I have decided that with my hatch for the HAL having bombed, I am going to try yet again. I'm calibrating the snot out of that thermometer before I set any eggs, too. I must find the problem!

I just candled my eggs and most are dark so it is hard to see in them being green and dark brown. But I had to clears that were light enough to see into. So my count is down to 10.

Wow Happy, you have a great camera. I love the one in flight. How do they fly with all of that pollen? Too cute.
I love my camera, it's a Canon Rebel T3i. Mostly it involves taking about 50 pictures to get 1 right. And shooting on sports mode. I have no idea how they still fly with all that pollen. They are amazing little creatures. Plus, it's nice to sit outside the hive and listen to the hummmm while smelling the honey fragrance. Very peaceful.
