My Day 18 (19th day) starts in a few hours so I have stopped the turners and will be locking down after candling around midnight. Could not sleep last night and had dreams about some weird chicks. They popped out of a hole in the ground and kept coming until I had to block the hole. Turns out they were not chicken chicks and were some sort of dino-monster chicks disguised as chicken chicks. Thats when my wife woke me up.

I usually do 60-65 for humidity - it's on its way up now - and I guess I'll drop the temp a bit.

Me too..60 to mid 60's. I just wanted to say, at least..55%. Don't drop it if you have it in the 60's..that's great. :)

Is there any ventilation for those eggs in the plastic case? I can't tell. You definitely want them to be able to "breathe." Keep an eye on humidity build up in there too.
I was looking at that too..need to get that top off! No tops on the plastic holders!

It's a strawberry container so it has holes around the bottom edges and top edges. The styrofoam egg cartons are cut out on the bottom. Is that enough?

I wanted to put in another container to separate breeds but the other container was a little taller and was touching the heating element

Okay… I checked the temps in my homemade bator with my brand spankin new Spot Check. The temp on the "floor" was 96.4 while the "ceiling" temp was 103.6. This is forced air! So, I adjusted the direction of my fan to point more upward, and the temps have stabilized and are the same floor to ceiling.

But that temp is 101.6.

That's too high, right? Right now, there are no eggs and the humidity is only 50%. What will happen to the temp overall when I add eggs and more humidity? Should I do that and then fiddle with the temp to bring it down a couple of degrees?

Try to drop by 1 degree. What do you have for a thermostat?

OK guys i tried to get eggs to hatch but i don't have an incubator and i don't know anything about hatching, so could i have some advice and knowledge about incubating?? whats lock down? and is the Easter hatch along every year? if so i will be hatching my own eggs next year  :jumpy  and i'm getting a 10 egg incubator soon

For goodness sakes, no need to wait till next years hatch a long to start incubating.

It will be fine.

Taking the top off would defeat the purpose--chicks would jump out.
