I went to check the bator and we had 4 new hatchers in there. (Up to 26 hatchers so far I believe and I think I have 5 left expected to hatch and 4 I don't.) When I went to move them, I noticead this:

Any advice??? It's dry, (at least the outside.) Not bloody or gooey. The chick is very active appears to be strong. The chick hatched sometime between 7 am and 9:30 am this morning.

I had one hatch like this last night, but not quite as bad. I lather it with Neosporin, then, push it in..mine went in easy. Have to hold it that way for about an hr. though. It looks great today.

I agree with the others about putting the chick in some sort of cup and put it back in the incubator and watch it. Is it unabsorbed yolk or is it possibly intestines? I have yet to experience this myself. Good Luck!
It's just unabsorbed yolk. Should absorb what's in them already, and make room for that if it is wet, or has some neo on it.

I have a genesis 1588 set up for hatching. It is in the bedroom over the second sink. The sink has water in it because it is dry today so humidity is low even with a sponge in the incubator.

One chick hatched yesterday evening and 4 more hatched over night. Each one that hatched announced it's arrival with loud peeping! I woke up each time.

I might need a nap today....

7 are out now because one more hatched during breakfast.

Nap..I need .. naps! I am sick to top it off..after being up off and on all night. Cough, sore throat. Go alll through the winter well, then I get sick in April. Go figure. I'm soo tired. Still watching several others pip and zip this morning. Loving the colors of the blues that are coming with the bantams. Pretty cute.

Started with 48, and pulled 14 for not being fertile. Had 2 quiters. Locked down 32 and got 27 to hatch, but for some reason 2 didn't thrive in the incubator, so I have 25 chicks. Not sure how you would count the 2 that hatched, but didn't thrive.

If they hatched, they count..pretty sure. Wow, love the colors. I also have babies, I have a lot of little chipmunks..three being OE's.

I am so sorry!

Did allergies become a sinus infection?

ron, I am a luck one that way, don't get allergies. It's just a darn cold/flu. It's going around again here.

Naps. yep. :D

my first chick out! its toes are curled i bet that is from the old incubators issues, i'll make it shoes tonight. all the other eggs are quiet, i see 2 internal pips but not external.

They will curl their toes sometimes for a while until they get their balance. Wait and see how it is by this afternoon.
