Why thanks for all the nice comments, but it was an April Fool's joke.

AND THERE IT IS!! HA..NOW YOU KNOW WHO LOVES YOU...EVERYONE!
I was totally fooled
So… discussion with some other chicken people has me scratching my head. I was told that hot water expands eggs so they push bacteria out and then closes the pores. I've never in my life heard that. Have any of you?

Nope

Is it impossible to keep up reading this thread? It seems that I stay 20 pages behind on my reading.
Yes it is impossible.
Well, looks like I'm not getting Amy Easter chicks this year. My incubator got unplugged and I have no idea how long it's been that way
You could just plug it back in.
No more chicks for me!!!

The wind blew over the broody hut and all the eggs broke!! They were fluffy and wet and the yoke sack was absorbed!!

So sorry

Imho...u would be better off sitting on the eggs.
Terrible design flaws with the clear plastic sensor. When the sensor moves...the temp spikes.
There is absolutely no way you can use scientific reasoning for problem solving when your incubator is the variable.
I would sell it and buy a gqf 1588.
Any GQF would be better!
https://www.backyardchickens.com/content/type/61/id/6818388/width/200/height/400[/IMG Lost 2 of my babies when my incubator spiked to 106! Maybe have lost one more, but leaving it be. I have 2 scheduled to hatch Wednesday, one's moving like crazy! At times te egg jiggles and almost jumps! The other may have died, no movement. :-( I have two scheduled to hatch Sunday following Easter, both of which started rocking ther eggs today?!?! They're over a week away to hatch day, what the heck?!?'
Maybe you just counted the days wrong.

Is it my imagination or are a lot of people who set to hatch Saturday hatching early?
My are supposed to hatch Saturday but I already have 5 pips.[IMG]https://www.backyardchickens.com/styles/byc-smilies/idunno.gif

I set my eggs early Saturday morning, so this is actually day 21 for me. I now have 9 pipped eggs in the incubator that are peeping loudly, but haven't progressed much yet. The broody BO who I gave 4 eggs from the incubator to at lockdown has hatched 2 of hers and a third is pipped, but I think she "cheated" a little and helped break the shell for the chicks, because one of them has a small "bellybutton", and I think it would have taken a bit longer on its own. They both seem ok though.

We could set two days earlier and two days later. There are always some that set early and hatch early. Hatch a long members will be hatching past Monday this year.

I keep thinking the same thing except yesterday I had one pip that hasn't done anything since and one more that pipped this morning that is cheeping like crazy. This chick has nice lungs it sounds like.
It is common for one to pip early. Chicks can take a day to start zipping sometimes...It will drive you crazy too!

I keep thinking that I will get a better incubator for the next time I hatch chicks. I have a garage sale styrofoam Hovabator that may have seen its better days. It still looks good but I am not thinking that I will have the results that other people have had. I have seen some nice homemade ones from scratch, some nice ones made from ice chests, and some nice commercial made ones. I don't think I need a huge one. I think I just need one that has the same capacity of the Hovabator. I am open to suggestions. I saw that someone is going to have to give up his Brensea because his wife doesn't want more chicks around (imagine that - a wife not wanting a husband around lots of chicks
hmm.png
) Maybe that's what I need? I want to hatch some Silver Appleyard ducks and some JOs eventually. Maybe I should just buy chicks and ducklings?

Waiting for chicks to hatch is tough! How do the hens do it? Maybe they can't read a calendar... I'm mostly glad I don't have to sit on these eggs!
