The adults, rooster and hen, the other hens look very much alike

Most of my EE resemble your chick in the down phase, they feather out very similarly to your adults, duckwing colors with very colorful males and brown pattern females. That one should be nice light brown if it's a hen. Cute!

I am having a strange problem. As of today 7 hens are broody. Everyday there seems to be another one. It is like a sickness! The others are not laying well at all. Today i got 16 eggs from 50 hens. Is any of this normal?

I only have 3 laying hens, 1 EE and 3 bantams. One of the bantams (that lays infertile eggs) went broody and the other girls would still lay in the same nest box. When there got to be too many eggs for her to cover the other 2 bantams (one of these is also infertile) went broody right in there with her. I went to check on them today and found an empty egg shell but they won't let me look under them. LOL frontline defense. So i think it might be the weather.

They may have spring fever !

I think I discovered what was happening. The non-broody hens were doubling up and laying in the egg boxes with the broodies. One of the broodies stood up and there were easily 15 eggs under her. Have since isolated all of my broodies and but i'm running out of spots for them. I've had a increase in eggs gathered since broody solitary confinements began.

Problem of the day is I have an egg (BCM) in the incubator that is beginning day 25 now. I was going to throw it out and then it started cheeping

. I have 18 eggs waiting on that incubator and they will be 7 days old tomorrow. How long do you wait on an internal pip before you give up? This was a shipped egg that came through Memphis (enough said if you live east of Memphis). It was in bad shape, but has a desire to live...as do the other 18 which are in line for their turns. I told it I was going to toss it 2 hours ago, but it just keeps on rocking and chirping. And we wait

(Yes, I talk to the eggs).

Oh my goodness ! The same thing happened to me ! Since it is day 25 i would put a small hole in the air sack, candle it first for accuracy, and check to see if it is glued in the shell like mine was. I ended up peeling my little one out and putting it in a small bowl on a warm, damp paper towel. I left it in the hatch box for a couple days then in the brooder. That was a couple weeks ago and it's doing wonderful .
